Japanese Grammar bakari

"BAKARI", by itself, means, just, or only. If we were to say, "Japanese Grammar bakari",we'd be saying, "Only Japanese grammar...?..., that's all, just Japanese Grammar? nothing else?

If a noun is followed by the word bakari you can usually translate it as meaning "only noun".

Examples of Noun bakari or only noun

1. Net* ,BAKARI - Nothing but net
2. AISU KURIMU BAKARI - Nothing but Ice Cream

When a verb is put into it's base TA past tense form you can construct sentences that mean you just verbed. Use the following construction to say that you just verb-ed.

Verb (base TA) BAKARI = I just verb-ed

Verb (base TA) bakari desu - to have just 'verb-ed' with the polite ending desu.

First, try putting some Japanese verbs into base TA for preliminary practice for the construction

iku (v. to go)--> itta (went)
dasu (v. to send)--> dashita (sent)
suru (v. to do) --> shita (did)
kuru ( v. to come)--> kita (came)
umu (v. to give birth) --> unda (gave birth)
deru (v. to leave)--> detta (left)
tatsu (v. to stand) --> tatta (stood)
abiru (v. to bask, be flooded with)--> abita
suwaru (v. to sit)--> suwatta (sat)
umareru ( to be born)--> umareta (was born)
etc.

Finish your constructions by adding the polite sentence ending desu to bakari (just).

Verb (base TA) bakari desu - to just verb

ex.1 suwatta bakari desu. I just sat down.

ex.2 deta bakari da! He just left. (not as polite)

ex.3. umareta bakari desu.

*I have intermixed English and Japanese here above. Please note that net in Japanese is Netto and Japanese Grammar would be nihongo no bunpo.

verb (base II) Bakari = I just verb'ed

erb (base TA) bakari desu - to just 'verb'

First putting some verbs into base TA like -

suru --> shita
kuru --> kita
umu --> unda
deru --> detta
tatsu --> tatta
abiru --> abita
suwaru --> suwatta
umareru --> umareta
etc.

He applauds all efforts in of those who pursuit fluency in Japanese, or in whatever language they choose to learn. Journey toward Fluency

I started my Journey toward Japanese fluency at a tender age. I remember studying very hard waking up early every morning to study with only one goal in mind. To be able to converse freely with the Japanese people in their own tongue, I desired to possess this skill more than any other. I worked hard at pronunciation, at memorizing vocabulary.

My efforts toward the study and mastery of the Japanese language has become an endeavor that is more than an adventure in learning about the Japanese people, their culture and their language, it has become a part of the way I conduct my life.

Want to avoid the pain and hours of practice it takes to become fluent in a foreign language? Try How to master any language through lingual skill endowments
I am also a performing musician and very much into music and Japanese, but not necessarily Japanese music.
