All Things Lincoln Electric

Today's welders are granted the privilege of equipment and accompanying functions that are vastly superior to the rudimentary models of the past; but, they are still tied to the same sense of pride that has been established through the decades. These craftsman have built upon the research, designs, and inspired thoughts of their late brothers in the industry, and today reap the rewards of the continued hard work and development. Lincoln Electric has proven to be a prominent force when it comes to supplying to you all necessary welding supplies, but what is more is that they have built upon a strong foundation that started with one John Lincoln who tirelessly toiled away to bring his revolutionary designs to the masses. When you purchase a Lincoln welder you are assured of course top quality, but you are additionally supporting a brand that has done all it can to support the future of welding careers and the men and women who pursue them.

The History of Lincoln Electric

Built on a $200 investment and rising to a World Wide force.

Lincoln ElectricWith the dawning of 2010, Lincoln Electric celebrates its 115th year; during that time it has grown insurmountably from the mere $200 investment it took on behalf of John Lincoln the start the company back in 1895. The early years entailed the Lincoln brother duo of John and James selling their unique designs of electric motors, and it was not until 1909 that their first welding set was brought into production. Two years later that initial set was expanded upon and their unveiling of the world's first portable, variable voltage, single operator welder solidified them as a force in the welding industry.

From then on, Lincoln Electric aimed to bring to all machinist and welders top of the line equipment to make their job not only more efficient but more precise too. Yet, as they continued to take the niche market by storm, Lincoln wanted to further spread the knowledge necessary for all those interested in pursuing one such career and in 1917 the founding of the The Lincoln Electric Welding School meant the first wave of pupils could enroll. Today the school has improved the lives of over 100,000 students and set them off on the right track for an industrious career.

Over the years Lincoln Electric has remained on the cutting edge of welding technology, striving to be the first to bring new features to their customers. In 1999 the array of products including the Power MIG: The Professional Choice with its 225 combined wire feeder/welder, the Multi-Weld system, the SuperGlide electrode, the SuperArc electrode, among others were also all world firsts. Today Lincoln has spread across the globe, constituting the leading brand in all things welding across Europe, South America, and China and it is one surely one of the top across the United States.

Important!

Did You Know?

Lincoln Electric is a leading brand in the welding industry World Wide and for good reason. It has established itself as not only a reputable company and one that adheres to only the strictest of quality control standards for all of their welders, but they are always striving to be on the forefront of new technology.

What's New From Lincoln

The latest wave of welding technology.

Lincoln ElectricWhen shopping in today's market for Lincoln welders you will find that with the passing of each New Year, the latest models only improve upon the last. This is the case with what has recently been showcased in multiple welders including the Outback 145. This portable DC stick welder works off of an AC power generator which is ideal for on the go jobs but will still grant you plenty of power, 4,750 Watts to be exact. You will be able to weld up to 1/8th of an inch and the rugged tube frame has a diameter of 1 ΒΌ inches which establishes itself as the biggest in its respective class. Finally, the output range is between 50 and 145A DC giving you a wide degree of applications should you be doing maintenance, farming, truck service, or anything else for that matter.

Another of the latest stick welders from Lincoln is the SAE-500 Severe Duty, built with those working with especially corrosive environments such as off-shore in mind. Also coined as the 'Silver Bullet,' this machine may look chic in design but don't let that fool you because it stands up against even the saltiest of off sprays and even some bumps or two. It has been built up from the SAE-500 which was already a favorite in its class, and this upgrade comes with an arc precision that is nearly unparalleled. You will be able to adapt between varying jobs with the dual continuous control, opt for either a 60% duty cycle of 500 amps or kick it up a notch to 100% duty cycle that boasts 400 amps. The output range is from 80 to 574A DC and if you need to be doing any gouging you can do so on carbons up to 3/8th of an inch.

Lincoln's New MIG and Multi's

For all your steel binding pleasures!

Lincoln ElectricIf you are going to be in the market for a Lincoln MIG welder than you may look no further than the Power MIG 216 wire feeder. This machine is perfect for those that are doing plenty of construction or fabrication work, but similarly functions well for farm tasks and hobbyists. It is geared more towards the lighter industrial side and is most adept at welding sheet metals. You will find it touts an array of enviable features to make your job all better including the Diamond Core Technology that grants you not only wide voltages to tailor your job for aluminum, stainless steel, or steel, but also has a low splatter. The Maxtrac Cast Aluminum Wire Drive will enable you a more sure and controlled speed on the wire feed. Finally, in terms of efficiency you won't be disappointed as it merits the best in class rating for not only amperage range but also output rating. Should you be demanding even more from wire feeding on aluminum the Magnum 100SG spool gun is ready to go; all you need to do is take off the MIG gun and switch it out.

Yet because there are plenty of jobs that require multi processes, Lincoln has brought to you a few models that are across the board something to delight in. The Ranger 225 is one such option as it spans across the stick, MIG, and TIG functions as well as doing gouging and is flux-cored. It has an output range of 50 to 225A DC and 15 to 25 CV and a two cylinder engine blasting away under 3600rpm. But because that engine will be fully encased all you should be hearing will be a soft purr with a lessened noise of only 100.7 dB sound power which is a bit easier on the ears. It has a peak of 10,500 Watts and for those plasma cutters you can count on a continuous 9,000 watts of power.

Lincoln ElectricShould you be looking for all those functions but in a more portable welder, the Lincoln Power Wave S350 is just the ticket. It will have stick, MIG, and TIG capabilities as well as pulsed TIG, pulsed MIG, and is flux-cored. However all that power is packed into a more convenient size; still it is highly durable shown to hold up against the hottest of temps, most humid environments, is rainproof, and doesn't mind a few dust clouds or two. Obviously Mother Nature is no contender for this puppy, but it still aims to please those eco-conscious of sorts as being named a member of The Lincoln Electric Green Initiative with a reduced energy consumption. You will get an input power range of 200 to 600V and the output will remain stable through the entirety thanks to the revolutionary PowerConnect feature. There is also the Tribrid Power Module that grants you even more proficiency and precision for any welding job.

What is also worth noting is that the new iARC High Speed Digital Controls are featured only in this latest wave from Lincoln Electric. What this means is that there are 128 times more RAM, the flash memory touts being 8 times better, and the board is overall over 90 times quicker. You can also use the 100Mbps Full Duplex Ethernet that will link up to Lincoln's Production Monitoring 2 to tap into the widest collection of welding data currently on the market. You will be able to improve your own work thanks to the monitoring tool and even reduce labor costs with features to calculate quality cost delivery, lean manufacturing efforts, overall equipment effectiveness, and more.

Certainly when you go with Lincoln Electric you are brought into a band of brothers who are continually working to improve upon what is already being manufactured and via all possible outlets. Being that so much of what we are doing today is now through the internet, allowing you to reach such a comprehensive network and database is the latest line in technology and surely the way the entire industry, and world is headed.
