Baking Soda Uses
Baking soda is another "favorite stuff" of mine.
Baking soda is a green living multi-tip in a box:
Use it as much you can, to cut down on driving to the store, cluttering cupboards and purchasing redundantly -- besides, the packaging is recyclable!
How many baking soda uses are there?
Like duct tape, witch hazel and epsom salt -- and more, as I add on -- this stuff is on my list of what to keep handy, at home and traveling.
Lots has been published already about using baking soda to make the world a better, greener place. But I have opened this lens to link up the best of it, here on Squidoo and around the Net.
Baking soda is an ingredient in natural cleaning solutions, natural home remedies and eco-friendly do-it-yourself projects -- including fun science.
I hope to collect loads of this simple, green-living wisdom here, gradually.

Simple Baking Soda Facial
I cleanse with Witch Hazel first.
Then I mix a hand-full or so of baking soda with small amounts of water gradually, until it's pasty.
I plaster this over my face & wait several minutes.
Often I apply a soft, warm, damp towel.
Exfoliation happens!
Then I rinse & wipe the mask off gently & thoroughly while showering or bathing.
Finally, I moisturize & massage with a natural oil.
Olive or sesame oil will sooth dry skin. Grapeseed, avocado or jojoba are better for normal to oily skin.

Itch Relief
When mosquito or gnat bites are bothering me, I pour a generous cup or two of baking soda into bathwater.
Then, I simply soak in it for at least ten minutes, while taking slow, deep breaths and relaxing muscles as I exhale.
Usually, this lessens or stops bug bite itches for a welcome while.
