Bakugan Battle Brawlers Starter Pack Blue

Listen up, parent, grandparents, aunts and uncles; because if you haven't heard already, bakugans are here! Huh, you say? Not to worry... I didn't know what they were either until I asked my 7-year-old nephew, Hayden, what he wanted for his birthday, and without skipping a beat he said, "That's easy, I want "The Bakugan Starter Pack Blue!"

And you guessed it, my next question was, "What??!!"

So, here's the deal... bakugans are magnetic red, green blue, or black marbles, or balls, that when opened, morph into little warrior action figures. Kids carry the marbles that house the brawlers and play a game using metal gate cards.

The marbles are spring-loaded and thrown onto cards. When the marbles hit the cards, they spring open and reveal a value. If that value is greater than their opponents, they win the battle.

In my opinion, they're like a cross between marbles (Does anyone remember playing marbles?) and Pokemon (same question as above). But, even cooler, children play the game nearly exactly like the characters do on the hit TV show, Bakugan Battle Brawlers (these folks thought of everything).

Yes, Bakugans the Hottest Holiday Gifts this Year... But Are They Worth It?

Simply put, "Yes!" - at least in my opinion.

Here's why:

1. Purchasing is Flexible and Affordable: Because bakugans (cards and marbles) can be purchased one at a time, in starter packs, and even in sets of eight. I think the starter packs - like the Starter Pack Blue I bought my nephew - is a relatively inexpensive way to get your child's collection started. Then you can add warriors at whatever pace you find most comfortable.

2. Collectibility: Let's face it, collections are just plain fun, and since there are literally hundreds of bakugans the fun will continue for a while. I don't know about you, but I hate schlepping around trying to find "appropriate" gifts for kids. So, I for one am relieved to know that, at least in the foreseeable future, I can purchase these little gems for my nephew and he'll be thrilled. Better yet, I can give him a gift certificate and he can pick out his own!

3. Skill Development: Guess what? Kids can actually play with their bakugans anywhere - so long as there's a floor or table - and when playing, they're actually working on their hand-eye coordination dexterity- not to mention improving their strategizing skills.

4. Appeals to "Kids" of All Ages and Genders: Although it's officially recommended for boys and girls, 4 and up, if supervised, younger kids could certainly participate in the fun (You'll want to make sure they don't put them in their mouths). Conversely, even cynical middle-schoolers will have "a ball" with bakugans!

5. Get the Whole Family Involved! Younger children new to bakugans, may not be able to read and/or understand the instructions initially (However, you'll be amazed at how quickly they catch on). Is this a negative? Not in my mind... I see it as an opportunity for Moms and Dads to get more involved with their little ones. So, the instructions to them, guide their play for a while, and then have fun together!

It's no wonder that kids all over the world are hoping to end the holiday season with more bakugans than they started it with...
