The Bakugan Story
![]()
These mysterious cards prompt the children to create a game that they called "Bakugan" which was intended to just be for fun, but little did they know their every action would have an effect on both the human world and the alternate dimension that the Bakugan came from called "Vestroia".
Each one of these cards represented a character, a special power or an environment.
Vestroia is a vast dimension composed of 6 attribute worlds: Fire, Earth, Light, Darkness, Water and Wind. At the very center of this universe there are two opposing energy cores- "The Infinity Core", the source of all positive energy and "The Silent Core", the source of all negative energy. Throughout history, these two opposing forces had maintained the balance of equilibrium in Vestroia.
Unfortunately, there was one Bakugan who desired to control all of the negative power within Vestroia. His name was Naga. In order to do so, he would need to penetrate "The Silent Core" to claim its power.
When "the Silent Core" claims an Earth scientist named Michael and distributes its power to him, transforming him into the evil Hal-G, Hal-G and Naga make a deal in which Hal-G would give Naga the Earth world in exchange for Naga giving him all of Vestroia.
Upon agreeing, Naga does end up beginning to absorb the negative power of "the Silent Core", but it causes "the Infinity Core" to explode resulting in pure chaos throughout Vestroia.
As Vestroia begins to collapse, the human world is also affected. The "Infinity Core" and "the Silent Core" are interfering with one another and starting to run wild. Now it is up to Dan and the other Battle Brawlers to find the Infinity Core and reunite it with the Silent Core to restore balance. What was initially thought of as "just a game" becomes a race to restore peace throughout the universe!

About the Game

What you need to get started:
- A Bakugan Gate Card
- A Bakugan Ball
Beginning Gameplay:
- Each person must lay at least one gate card face down on a flat surface.
- When 2 brawlers stand on a gate card, battle takes place.
- If playing by Series 1 rules, the player with the highest total G-Power is the winner
TOTAL G-POWER = G-POWER RATING + G-POWER BOOST
In series 2, the objective is simply to capture 3 of your opponent's gate cards. - The battling stops when all cards have been captured.
Some basic rules to keep in mind:
- The Bakugan Ball will only open and your character will only "stand" if you land on a Bakugan Gate Card.
- You must shoot your Bakugan Battle Brawlers from a minimum of 2 card lengths away.
- The youngest player shoots first.
- The winner of a battle goes first in the next round.
- If you stand 2 brawlers on a card you automatically capture that card.
- If after a battle the total G-Power is a tie, 'sudden fury' ensues. This is similar to sudden death in a football penalty shootout, the first player to stand their brawler on the card with the other player failing to do so wins the battle. If you both stand on the card or both miss, shoot again until a winner is established.
Game Strategy and Setup
Selection is extremely important when engaging in a Bakugan Battle Brawl. Selecting your best Bakugan Battle Brawlers and suitable gate cards will give you the advantage in any battle. Below are the rules that you must bear in mind when preparing for battle%u2026
- A battle may take place between 2-4 players
- You must select your 'deck' of brawlers and gate cards that you are going to use before you start battle commences. This means you must make your choices wisely.
- Each player must select a minimum of 3 bakugan brawlers and 3 gate cards to use.
- All players must start with the same amout of brawlers and cards.
- A 'deck' of cards may have 1 special ability card only (your special ability card cannot be the first card a player lays down).
- Take it in turns to place your cards onto a flat surface face (sector side) down, 1 card each at a time. You must lay cards down furthest from you and each card must touch another card on 1 full side, as shown below:

(they must line up "neatly")
Now that the arena is set, let's brawl!
Each player shoots a bakugan warrior. Remember to take it in turns clockwise from the first player to shoot (the youngest!)
Shoot your Bakugan
- If your Bakugan Battle Brawler does not stand on a card, collect it from the playing area. You then miss a turn to battle until next time and it is then the turn of the player on your left.
- If your Bakugan does stand on a card, it is left there until another player's warrior lands on the same card, then battle commences (shown above).
- If you land 2 brawlers on a single card, you automatically win the gate card and keep your 2 brawlers.
- If you have no Bakugan left, you must skip your turn. You may not choose to skip your turn if you have any Bakugan left.
Once a shot has been made, that player may choose to add another card from their gate card pile to the battle ground. You should do this if you want to capture a Bakugan Battle Brawler from another player by battling on it at a later time in the game.
Remember,in the series 1 game, the player with the highest total G-Power is the winner:
TOTAL G-POWER = G-POWER RATING + G-POWER BOOST
If playing the series 2 game, the first person to capture 3 of their opponent's gate cards wins.
* The winner collects the gate card and the opponents battle brawler *
* If playing the series 1 version, when you capture a gate card, you should keep it in a separate pile to your battle cards, this is so that you can easily add up your HSP (Holo Sector Points) to calculate the overall game winner *
If after a battle the total G-Power is a tie, 'sudden fury' ensues. This is similar to sudden death in a football penalty shootout, the first player to stand their brawler on the card with the other player failing to wins the battle. If you both stand on the card or both miss, shoot again!
Ending of the game
The battling stops when all cards have been captured.
Each Bakugan that you have is worth 100HSP. The captured cards HSP is the total HSP shown in the bottom right hand corner of each card you captured in battle.
TOTAL HSP = BAKUGANS HSP + CAPTURED CARDS HSP
