Ball Pythons...So many types to choose from.

Most people have probably heard of Ball Pythons, and many people have seen one in person, but did you know that there are hundreds of types Ball Pythons to choose from.
There are Ball Pythons that are all white with blue eyes, and all white with black eyes. There are albino Ball Pythons, Black Ball Pythons, Striped Ball Pythons. There are many colors, and shades of colors. There are so many different colors, that it is almost hard to believe that they are all the same species of snake. You will find a list of several hundred morphs below. And the list grows everyday. (This page will be a continuing work in progress)

Buying a Ball Python Online

When buying a Ball Python, or any other reptile, you can buy it from a pet shop, or you can buy it online. That decision up to each individual. For some people, buying from a pet shop makes perfect sense. For other people it might make sense to buy online. Here are a few things to consider before buying. I have purchased reptiles both ways.

1. Most people don't know that in many cases you can buy a Ball Python online, for about the same price, or cheaper than you can buy it at your local pet shop. (Depending of course on what Morph you buy.) And it will be delivered to your door.
2. In some cases, the person you deal with at the pet store is not exactly and expert in the field of reptiles.
3. The selection online, is unlimited, with hundreds of different Ball Pythons to choose from.
4. Most, professional breeders will provide after sale support if needed.

These are just a few things to consider, but you get the idea. My suggestion would be to not get in a hurry. Take your time, research the snake you are considering, do some price comparisons, and try to get information on the pet store or breeder you are considering. Sometimes just asking around can save headaches later on.

Yikes! Scary snakes ... I was just trying to ID an egg I found out back, and luckily it doesn't appear to be a snake egg. You know, just the other day, a red-shouldered hawk was up a tree right in front of me ... pulling at a snake that he had caught. Are snakes delectable to hawks?
  • pawpaw911 May 1, 2012 @ 11:28 am | delete
I think Hawks like snakes, because they are so easy for them to catch. The egg you found could be from a turtle I guess. It is that time of year again.
