Bamboo Veneer: A Designer's Dream
We'd like to take you into the wide world of wood veneers. As you may know, veneers are fantastic for walls, furniture, desks, cabinets, and much more. Read on to find out why one particular type of wood veneer is quickly becoming one of the most popular in the world, bamboo veneer. Bamboo Veneer: Why So Much Interest
Wood companies all over the country and the world are now getting inordinate amounts of inquiries and orders for a species of plant that is technically not wood. If you read the title of this page, you know that I'm speaking of bamboo and more specifically, bamboo veneer.Bamboo, which is actually a grass, is commonly thought to grow mainly in Asia. However, bamboo can actually be found in nearly every non-polar country in the world, including the United States and Canada. Bamboo is known for growing very fast, as much as a foot and a half per day or more, making it an extremely renewable resource. For this reason, it has caught on quite well with the green building movement which has been building up a lot of momentum in the past few years. Bamboo also matches many other areas of interior, including wood flooring and other furniture and wall wood and veneer species.
How is Bamboo Veneer sold
Most veneer is sold in sheets of 4"X8". Bamboo Veneer specifically is sold in two color tones, and two grain patterns, for a total of four types. Color types are natural, which is a yellowish or blonde shade (lower picture), and carbonized (upper picture), which is more of a buckskin tan color. Grain patterns include horizontal grain (lower picture), which is a thicker 3/4" planked look, like a butcher block, and vertical grain (upper picture), which is a thinner and tighter 1/4" grain.
Therefore Bamboo Veneer is Available in:
Natural Vertical
Carbonized Vertical
Natural Horizontal
Carbonized Horizontal
