Portland Mercantile Company Logo
Portland Mercantile Company is pleased to offer a series of unique bamboo pendants based on images from 18th Century Japanese woodcuts which are bordered top and bottom with patterns from chiyogami paper.

The completed images are ink-transferred onto a central bamboo tile. Tube beads, hand-rolled from metallic paper, are added to the top and bottom. The piece is then wired with complementary colored wire and a little bead dangle is added for movement.

Handsigned by the artist on the natural bamboo back. The pieces are triple-lacquered with UV resistant lacquer for moisture resistance and durability. Strung on a black cotton cord, the pendants come with an adjustable-length sliding bead clasp.

Here are the Bamboo Pendants you can find on our website. Have a question? You can email us at: CustomerService@PortlandMercantile.com

Elaborate hair ornaments claim the attention in this image. The geisha is holding a small doll, or is it a child? Her white collar denotes her senior status. Pale orange and teal colors in her kimono play gently against the natural bamboo background. The patterned borders pick up the same colors. The tube beads are metallic bronze and the gold wire sparkles.

The Storyteller Bamboo Pendant
The Storyteller

A geisha, or is it an actress, in the midst of telling a story. Her hands gracefully follow her words. A dramatic black and red patterned kimono against a black border creates a distinctive piece. The natural bamboo peeks through in her skin tones. The tube beads are black with a bit of sparkle and black wire completes the theme.
