Homemade Banana Cake Recipe
Banana cake is a great summer cake recipe. It is a light cake that features they great taste of fresh banana. These bananas are masked up and baked right into this banana cake recipe. Any flavor of frosting can be added to banana cake or it can be eaten plain; this cake is very versatile. No matter how you choose to serve it, banana cake is sure to be a family favorite.

Banana Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1 2/3 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 and quarter cup smashed banana
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 1 and quarter tsp baking soda
- 1 and quarter tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- FOR THE FROSTING:
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 3 tbsp milk or light cream
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a mixing bowl, mix the butter until creamy. Then add the sugar. Mix well.
3. Beat the eggs one at a time and add the smashed banana.
4. In a huge bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
5. Add the flour mixture into the wet mixture alternating with the butter milk.
6. Pour the batter in a greased 9x13" pan.
7. Bake cake for 45 minutes or until cake turns golden brown.
8. Remove cake from oven and place on rack. Let it stay for 10 minutes until completely cooled.
9. To make the frosting, combine all the frosting ingredients. Beat until smooth and spreadable.
10. Spread the icing on the cake.
