About my dog Bandit

This Lens is about my dog bandit. He's was a Great Dane, and larger breeds of dogs have shorter life spans, so reader be aware that as I build this lens, parts may be sad. Bandit is a great dog that has been with us for over 10 years, so this is dedicated to Bandit a friend till the end.

The decision to get a Great Dane

Time to decide

My wife and I have discussed getting another dog to keep our American Cocker spaniel (Wiggles) company. My wife and I decided to go to the human society, and other animal shelters for finding a companion, we were not successful. One day we were reading the local ad's paper and saw an ad for Great Dane puppies, just then the phone rang and it was my Dad, he asked if I had checked out the paper? I told him yes, he then said "we went and got one of the Great Dane pups", so we went to go check out my dad's new addition to the family. Arlo is the name my Dad gave his puppy, beautiful black coat, and features.

After seeing my Dad's dog my wife and I decided to look more in depth, for information on Great Danes. Thanks to the internet found endless information, one of the pieces discussed the life span of the breed, another told about physical issues that may arise, and one that explained preventive medicine.

After careful consideration my wife and I decided to look at the puppies, with the understanding that this may not be the companion for wiggles. We went to the home of the people offering the pups, they were very nice people with other animals besides dogs, and we could tell from our first impression, that this littler was born into a loving family. The mother was a Great Dane and the father was believed to be Great Dane, but they also had a male Lab, and the pups showed similarities to both the male dogs. The demeanor of all their animals was great; one could tell that they are happy to live with their loving family.

My wife and I decided to go ahead and pick one, at the time there was four out of a litter of eight, so we checked each one out to see what one we would most likely bond with. We selected the runt of the litter. I started writing this lens 2 days before the passing of our dear friend Banjo, and also my dog Bandit, he liked our friend and maybe decied to catch up to him. my friend died from the H1N1 virus, he was 34 years old. the same saturday, Bandit after 10 wonderful years of life decided to leave us too.
it has been 3 weeks now and I still invision them as if they are with us today.
Check back, I will be sharing some "Bandit" stories!

Sorry for your loss! We had a Boston for thirteen years and it was like losing a child when he died a couple of years ago. Guess that's why I did a couple of pet and animals lenses. We swore we would never get another pet because of the pain of losing them, but after a few months we were looking for another pet to fill in for Brewster and now have two miniture dachsies that we love.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bandit was a handsome dog and 10 years for a Dane is a good long life, even though it feels like a blink of an eye.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I love my dog like a child, so I really feel it when others lose theirs.
