Evolett

Evolett is a local band to my hometown of Montgomery, AL. I enjoy their lively performances at all the local shows. They are not very popular yet, but i hope they will be. They have a very strong variety of songs, although some sound similar with modifications. They have a single ep that has not been released yet. They engage the audience into their set when they play. I. myself, have been integrated into their performance. They have very good quality equipment and sound. I heavily endorse orange equipment, which is what they use. All the band members are very solid players who have yet to fault during a show. Haden, the lead singer, has a very pleasant voice that is easy to warm up to. Overall, they play and perform well.

VersaEmerge

Rock/Pop/Experimental

VersaEmerge has been to my town on a few occasions. They have a wide variety of sounds that have been generated and incorporated into their music. They are currently rising in popularity and have been featured in AP magazine. They have a very strong quality of music, and their technology has yet to falter. They include a guitarist, bassist, drummer, generated music, and a lead singer into their set. Sierra, the lead singer, has a very clear and easy to understand voice. They have two EP CDs currently available that builds a nice little arsenal of music. They perform nicely live and use tech to enhance their performance. They get their audience engaged easily. Overall, they are a very solid group that will rise.

Attack Attack

Electro/Screamo/Visual

Attack attack has visited us only a single time. They put on a good show and spoke to the crowd as equals. They had some technical difficulties that hurt their performance because the majority of their music is based off of generated sounds. they have a very unique set of music with a nice variety among their music. They have a single CD out for purchase. The quality is very good when their tech is working. The backround singer uses a techno synthesizer in order to create an interesting effect. They are a collected group full of humour. Overall, they are a unique band that combines, hip-hop, and techno into their rock music style.

A Static Lullaby

Screamo/Punk

A Static Lullaby is a popular band who has come to our place once. I, personally, am not a fan of this band. I never did like their music. Their lead singer has an unpleasant scream and is cocky. BUT, i was thoroughly surprised by their ability to perform. Even I could get into the music while they played live. Their new CD is definitely better than their first. They play pretty average for a band like them.

Family Force 5

Rock/Electro

Family Force 5 is a crazy band who, when I last saw them, were unknown. They have climbed a long way up the ladder since then. Not a single song of theirs is like any other song they have. The variety is quite amazing. They have a CD or two out for purchase. They are a christian band, so even they can get into this music. They engage icons, the crowd, and other bands into their set. They put on a great show. Each and every song is like a different genre. They also incorporate a good bit of tech into the performance of their music and sets.

With Blood Comes Cleansing

WBCC is a great hardcore christian band that knows how to engage the crowd. I have seen them a few times. Their performances are like nothing you've ever been to before. They allow the crowd on stage, sing in the mic, and engage in hardcore dancing. They have a strong quality in their music. They have two CDs available, but the variety in their music is slightly wavering. A strong number of their songs sound similar, even though a fan can notice the difference. Not many people like screamo/metal bands, but this is one everyone could enjoy.

A Plea for Purging

Screamo/Metal/Christian

Plea is a hardcore christian band from Alabama. I have seen them on many occasions. They are similar to WBCC, but have a much greater dedication to guitar and music. They have a very good variety of songs with an ample number of them out for purchase. They are producing a new CD called Depravity. Their performance is very engaging and the lead singer is an icon of sorts. They get the crowd as entwined into their set as possible. By way of lights and tech, they add greatly to their show. They have a solid setup of merch as well.

Showbread

Rock/Other

Showbread is a very punk/ska style band. They are exeptional in their performannce, although it is a very odd ppresentation. The quality is faltered however. They are in no way my style of music, but if they are you're style, then you may enjoy them. They are average band members. I've only seen them once, maybe they have gotten better.

Ocean Is Theory

Rock/Punk

I saw these guys at Summer Side Show in Columbus, GA. They have a unique list of music and a solid performance ethnic. Their quality is a little lacking because they are still a smaller band. They have a good singer and strong musicians and a solid performance. they have an EP available with a nice variety in their music. They have a nice bit of merch and tour very often. I enjoy their music, its very easy listening.

After The Tagedy

After the Tragedy was one of the first bands I had ever seen in a show. They are a well played bunch of individuals who like to use lights during their set. I got to talk to the guys and found out one of them has the Zelda triforce symbol as a tattoo. That's amazing! They are pretty skilled musians, and their musics varies pretty well. They have two CD's for purchase although one is more like an EP. They don't engage the crowd too much when they play, but they still play a pretty good show. Overall, they are a pretty solid band.

Mychildren Mybride

Hardcore/Christian/Metal

I saw Mychildren Mybride the other night. It had too be one of the best performances I have ever seen. They engaged the crowd easily. They allowed us to scream in the mic, dance around, and jump ecstatically. They had a great quality to their playing. The guys are amazing musicians who can truly grind some riffs. They have a good number of songs to play, and they all have their differences. Like most metal bands, a few sound similar, but they are unique. If you ever get the chance, this is one band that you've gotta see.

For Today

For Today was at he show with Mychildren Mybride. They surprised me with the quality of their performance. They are christian, so anyone can get involved. They have a very traditional metal feel. Their variety is a little lacking, but they have a bunch of songs. They engaged the crowd with a speech about god, and then switched to the hardcore music. If you are even a little bit of a metal fan, this is a great band to check out. Oh, and the lead singer is black! Sweet!

Paramore

Paramore is no doubt an extremely popular band. Practically everyone knows who they are, but for those who don't this entry is perfect. Paramore has 3 CDs out for purchase and they where featured in twilight. They have an amazing set that they play, Their music had a very strong variety and they have tons of songs. I don't listen to them much, but I used to be Hooked. Be careful because you will too. Their performance is the only plain thing about them. They put on a great show, but they don't do what smaller bands can-- engage the crowd. Hayley Williams has a very easy listening voice that can lull you to sleep. They play very well, and the quality of their music is great. The perks of being popular. You gotta check these guys out if you havn't yet

Killswitch Engage

Hardcore/Screamo

Killswitch is a very popular band. They played very well at Warped Tour 07. They are a very talented group of guys. The best part is that they have a black lead singer. Pretty original it is. They have serious skills when it comes to playing their instraments. The have several CDs out for purchase. Some of their music sounds a bit similair, but most of it has a good bit of variety. They perform well in front of a large crowd of people. They talk to the crowd and get responses the best they can. Iverall, they are a great band with a great set.

Escape The Fate (Old Version)

Hardcore/Sceamo

Escape the Fate was and still is one of my all time favorite bands. I'm talking about the ETF with Ronnie Radke. Not the new band. These guys were truly amazing. They could rock the house and keep everyone interested. Anywhere from the bands crazy attitudes to their great tunes. They were an exceptional bunch of musicians who could play any sort of riff. The quality was good too. They got their fans engaged quickly because they talked to the crowd freely and even took suggestions. I personally got to meet them. They are a very normal bunch of guys. They have two cds and a good variety in their music. As a band inspired by arena rock, you gotta check them out!

Thursday

Indie/Screamo/Alternative

Thursday is a VERY popular band out there. They aren't my favorite, but my bias will not affect their ratings. They recently published a new CD in which they are focusing on in the Taste of chaos tour. They perform very well by interacting with the audience. They released giant balloons during their set and they let the audience sing in the mic. They play pretty well as a whole, but the baselines are kinda simple. They do variate their music, mostly because they recently entered into the screamo genre. The quality is no doubt good because they have plenty of money to put into it. It is very clear and understandable. the only downfall in my opinion is their fan club. It cost 35 dollars to join, and it only allows you to meet and greet before they play. This is a downfall because most bands do for free what they make you pay for.

Four Year Strong

Concrete / Melodramatic Popular Song

Four Year Strong is a very good band. I've never listened to them much, but they got me hooked by their amazing performance in the Taste of Chaos tour. They are very uniformly linked. They all know exactly what to do and when to do it. They variete their music pretty well and have several additives that they use during their sets--a random hardcore breakdown. They play very well and the quality is very sound. I wouldn't mind watching these guys a few more times. They engage the audience well, even in a large venue like tabernacle. This is key in gaining popularity with the fans. They had a meet and greet for FREE. FUN FACT: one of the guitarist looks like the guy from 300 and we got him to say, "This is Atlanta!" They are a great group of easygoing guys you gotta check out!

Pierce the Veil

Pierce the Veil is a exceptional group of guys that probably put on one of the best performances I have ever seen. The bassist was all over the stage and they raised their guitars at a key point and time reading "Party Mother F@#$ers." They engage the audience by asking questions and simply carrying on a conversation with them. They play very well and they are very clear. They can transition from the pop-ish sounding music to the hardcore screaming very well. They are band that will frow on many people.

Being Me The Horizon

BMTH has risen to the very top in metal music. They are one of my all time favorite bands in the world. They come straight from the UK. The guitarist quit the day before they performed at Tabernacle, but they were still able to perform! They put on an amazing show even though a guitar tech had to learn their set quickly the day before. Oliver Sikes spoke directly to the audience between each song. He even asked a bunch of questions and made sure we gave a loud response. The audience danced and sang and spoke to the band. It was an amazing thing to behold. They play very well even though the original guitarist wasn't present. They vary their music very well and have two CDs and an EP out for purchase. There is even a rumor behinf the message of Chelsea Smile.

Cancer Bats

Harcore/Mettal/Rock

Cancer Bats is a pretty solid band that can put on a performance. Not many people know who they are, so they will force the audience into engaging with them. The lead singer was in the audience for the most part of their set. He danced. jumped,and sang with the audience. That is a great way to get an audiences approval. They play pretty well, but their music could be varied a bit more. The show performance was the height of this bands ability. The music has good quality like most nabds hope to achieve.
