For the best in Glasgow Bands
Now... there are a plethora of conurbations and villages on the extremeness of Glasgow and I don't wish to disparage any of those, but, I can't run individual villages.
This Lens is dedicated to those bands in the South East of Scotland who lie within a battered Mars bar of the City.

The Paraffins
The Paraffins, sit as they perch and fortunately I was permitted inside the coven, for a chat:What is the essential essence of The Paraffins?
Catchy tunes you'll instantly fall in love with and horrible noises that'll make you sick. And a few shades inbetween. My favourite music by other people is either really poppy and pretty, or dark and grim, or a bit of both. I reckon you've got to be quite passionate to make either.
How do you decide to work with on collaborations?
I know loads of musical geniuses, so there's no shortage. But sometimes I just use whoever's in the room at the time. And there's no guessing who'll turn out better.
How would you describe the output of the band?
Lots and lots of happy accidents and a few life-threatening ones.
Have there been any major changes since you started?
Yes. The Paraffins honestly set out to make music you could stick on in the background while chatting someone up. The way the album's turned out, I'd like to see them try.
How are the songs composed?
Aha.
Any upcoming tours?
Oh no, The Paraffins are way too disorganised to plan tours of anything more than 2 dates in a row. Playing at the Edinburgh festival tomorrow, Underachievers Please Try Harder club in Manchester in late August and the Bubblegum records popfest in Glasgow in December. Plus a guerilla launch gig for the album on a patch of grass in Scotland somewhere soon. All will be revealed.
Any upcoming releases?
Debut album "Snout To The Grindstone". An angry concept album about the state of the world which pathetically doesn't offer any feasible way of sorting it out. All given that rusty Paraffins sheen.
What drives you to keep playing?
In all honesty, fuck knows.
