Banfield is Not Pet Insurance

Now before I start to explain to you why I believe that Banfield offers no real pet insurance, then let me make to absolutely clear that I think highly of the Banfield concept, the company and the members of the staff. They're doing a great job and from what I hear they have a huge following of happy clients (and their pets).

But what Banfield Pet Hospital offers is not what you would call an insurance. There are lots of people that search for Banfield Pet Insurance but they do this for one of two reasons.

The first reason might be that they simply don't know that no such thing exists (which is why I'm creating this lens) or they are confused and are really looking for the Banfield Wellness Plan for pets.

So why do some people think of it as an insurance rather that as a wellness plan? I'll try to give you a tour of what it is that Banfield will offer you while also trying to give you my guesses as to why some pet owners might think of it like insurance when it is really not.

So keep reading... :)

What is Banfield Really All About?

As stated earlier it is not normal insurance coverage.

Since their start in 1955 they have been growing a customer base that in most cases have come to love them for the service they provide. Banfield is a private veterinary service that runs more than 500 pet hospitals in a joined venture with the PetSmart stores. Having enrolled more than one million pet in their Optimum Wellness Plan program they're now one of the largest practices in the world.

So what is this Optimum Wellness Plan? Well the concept is simple really but also very effective as Banfield's statistics show that pets that follow the plan will live up to 25% longer and will probably also feel healthier and more vital.

The concept is about keeping pets healthy in order to prevent sickness and injuries from happening. Now you can never prevent things like these 100% but if you do the best you can you're reduce the risks greatly.

But it is not a pet insurance but a wellness plan. This means that if your pet gets into a fight or get hit by a car then you'll still have to pay for the treatment needed and any medicine that is required.

The optimal combo would be to have the Banfield solution as well as a pet insurance coverage so that you'll keep your pet as healthy as possible and if bad luck strikes you'll still be covered to some extend (depending on the insurance plan you pick).
