What Can I Do in Bangkok?
Ranked #13,751 in Travel & Places, #330,170 overall
Bangkok City
Arriving to Bangkok from western Europe is overwhelming! Bangkok is a kaleidoscopic input of fragrances, visions and sounds. The greater Bangkok area has a population of approximately 12 million people, and the city is administrative divided into 50 districts. Its quite confusing to meet this giant of a city on top of a very long flight. Unless you write and speak Thai the confusion is complete: You don't understand what they say, and you cant read the signs. What you need to do is to find your Bangkok hotel room. After a good sleep and a shower - you will feel ready and eager to explore this exotic city.

There is so much you can do and see in Bangkok. I suggest you decide on a few favorite things to do and give yourself the space and time to do them at an enjoyable pace that suits you. There is no way you can "Do Bangkok" in a couple of days anyway.
I will give you a few suggestions and links to find more info on Bangkok attractions as you scroll down.
Enjoy.....

Ride an Elephant
My Best Thai Experience...
Do not miss a ride on the elephant. It is a grand experience to move through the jungle at the same height as the treetops.
From Bangkok you can explore the protected green landscapes of Khao Yai National Park on a full-day guided excursion. The ideal city escape if you are looking to get back to nature during your stay in Bangkok. You'll have the opportunity to sample indigenous fruit and search local wildlife including tigers, black bears and leopards.
The highlight is a 45-minute elephant ride through the lush forest at Pakchong Creek.
Bangkok Photo-Walk
With Jonathan Taylor

There are two walk routes available at present, either the back streets of China Town or the quieter side of the city over the Chao Praya River to Thonburi, then on to the Famous Pak Khlong Talat Fresh Fruit and Flower Market.
You will be taken around by Jonathan Taylor himself, his twenty years of living in Thailand means not only does he speak Thai fluently he also knows all the most fabulous locations for great photography. You will experience so much more of the city and its people than you ever could alone or on a mixed group tour.
Each tour begins with instruction on how to get the best from your camera, finally learn how to use it and not it use you. Then enjoy the photography walk, these normally last around four hours but you can go at your own pace. The walk is then followed by a critique of your pictures back at the school.
Arrangements can be made for you to be picked up and dropped off at your hotel.

Go Bananas in Bangkok
WARNING: Bangkok is "Sin-City" for Shop-Aholics!
If you like shopping you will go bananas in Bangkok. Head down to China Town, which is like a giant flee-market. Silk, clothes, gems, herbs and electronics just to mention a few of the things you can buy . ..You'll find a labyrinth of shops and vendors selling all kinds of colourful textiles. You can do bargains you would never imagine.
I had to buy an extra suitcase to carry home silk, kimonos and clothes, and that in spite of doing Bangkok on a budget. It is dead cheap!
