- I agree that laughter is one of the best medicines. It can release the pent up negative energy and it also serves as a good exercise for the face and the abdomen. However, others suffer from chemical imbalances in the brain which would result to clinical depression. Women are more prone to this and usually, they are given antidepressants, like Zoloft for management. However, Zoloft birth defects have been taken into account which is why most doctors are being careful in prescribing the drug to women especially when pregnant.

- I don't think I have suffered from clinical depression, but I get depressed sometimes and even feel worthless. I think I am always able to overcome it without doing much damage by being realistic. I think that's the best way to put it. Being realistic means:
I know nothing changes if I keep mopping over a situation
I know no successful person succeeded without some trials and struggles
I know if you fight hard enough for anything you want you can achieve it
I know bad things happen to good people
Bottom line is no one can live life without feeling down, depressed or worthless at some point, and that's okay. What matters is being courageous enough to pull ourselves up at such times, and I believe this is what differentiates the clinical depressed from others who are not.
So being realistic and having some coping skills, such as taking a break when feeling overwhelmed, reading success stories, keeping positive have helped me stay sane.
And that is why I now share skills for coping with depression at http://www.copingwithdepressioncenter.com
You being depressed doesn't mean you're the only person with problems, or that the world is mean to you, actually the world is mean to all of us, you just have to find the power to keep pressing forward and never give up. I know it's difficult but not trying to is worse.

- I am a ND, EFT Practitioner, BA Psychology who has a private practice with alternative treatments for depression. Combining dietary supplements which balance neurotransmitters, energy medicine like Emotional Freedom Technique, and other remedies such as flower essences are very helpful to lift depression. I see excellent results every day.

- Indeed, depressed people need all the help they can get. I also believe in a healthy diet, especially high in serotonin for those who are depressed. Thank you!
