Every person with this ringing or buzzing condition will have some form of hearing damage. Sure, you can get it temporarily after a loud concert and it will go away. But if you have constant ringing then this means that you did yourself some permanent damage - to the tiny and sensitive hair cells in your cochlea, in your inner ear.
Doctors know that hair cell damage cannot be repaired. So they make a huge assumption that neither can the permanent ringing symptom either. This is a gross mistake.

In fact, doctors have no explanation for why not everyone with hearing loss will go on to develop tinnitus. Why is it that only a small section of these people will?

The reason is due to various secondary co-factors. These are based on your lifestyle and your environment. For example, using the wrong type of toothpaste every day can give you tinnitus. Various artificial ingredients can also be to blame. Even some types of computer equipment can cause it.

By tackling each of these co-factors, one by one, you can reduce your symptoms until they eventually disappear altogether.
