Never heard of such a thing, but it sort of makes sense. Thanks for sharing this.

I wrote a blog post on this awhile ago after researching this. I've had tonsil stones for awhile and didn't know what they were for a long time. I've found if I cut down on how much dairy I eat that it helps prevent them.

Oh my goodness, finally found out what tonsil stones are all about! I've had them occassionally since childhood but have noticed them being more frequent in the past 6-8 years. That could be connected to my husband noticing the smell as well even though I'm meticulous about oral hygiene. I've discovered here that I have a relatively mild and intermittent condition--a yucky thing like this is still quite disturbing even if mild. I am now armed and dangerous to tonsil stones, thanks to you. I am so grateful I mentioned this to Susie and she spotted this! My husband is very pleased and encouraged that we have an answer. I always thought it was white blood cell debris left from fighting mild throat infections because I'd get that sore throat and think I was catching a virus and then it would go away. Oddly, I had never mentioned this to my doctor and had only talked to one person who brought it up back in the 70's. No more of that awful taste and smell for me. Thank you! Oh, I'm not a Squidoo member, though I do visit around from time to time, particularly when Susie suggests I go in the direction of one of her great Squidoo finds. Bless you!

I'm amazed! My sister and I were just talking about what I now know to be tonsil stones last week, I'll have to tell her about this because she is frustrated with the condition and said she had one 'as big as a baseball' a couple weeks ago. I had them when I was young and so did my daughter, I'll have to check with her on it to see if she's still getting them. I am just tickled and I can promise that Shelly will be here very soon, I can't wait to let her know about this.
