Indian banks have started to hire professionals in large numbers for Junior,Middle & Senior levels during the recent times.The recruitment is lead by the public sector banks followed by private banks.The main reason for the mass recruitment could be 2 reasons :
* Consolidation of business & reaching out to more people
* Rural presence by opening new branches in rural areas & villages.

United Bank of India,a public sector bank with more than 1400+ branches across India recently announced hiring plans for Probationary officers,Officers & Clerks in mass numbers.Similarly Indian bank,City Union bank,Andhra bank & South Indian bank are following suit by announcing hiring positions.The Private banks like HSBC banks,Axis Bank,ICICI Bank have also joined the hiring season.Although not in huge numbers,the private players are also looking out for new professionals.The renowned World Bank is also recruiting for its only branch in India located at Chennai,Tamilnadu.

State Bank of India is recruiting for more than 11,000 clerks across 19 states in India.This is by far the highest intake in recent years by any bank in India.With the introduction of Online applications,applying for bank jobs have become far more easier.

Corporation Bank is recruiting for 575 clerks for its branches in India.The last date for applying is on 18th Sep 2009.

The eligibility for applying to clerk posts is either a degree in any discipline or 12th pass with minimum marks.So candidates have started to apply for public sector banks in large numbers as there is job security compared to high paying IT companies.
