- Total Time: 20 minutes
If you don't have the time or the money to purchase baptism cookie favors, then the next best thing is to make them yourself! Here is a recipe to help you out along the way.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Crosses look very nice for this occasion. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

DIY Favors
Add character
Making your own baptism favors doesn't have to be time consuming or stressful. You can make teddy bear decorated cookies and wrap them in pretty papers or if you're good with candy, make your own lollipops in the shape of crosses or diaper pins or baby bottles.
You can find molds for these shapes and other shapes at your local craft store, or search online for something you'd prefer to use.
Planning the Favors
Making the Favors, Ordering, etc.

The sky's the limit. How much you spend depends entirely on your budget. Just remember, it's completely up to you if you include favors at all. A simple card of thanks at each place setting is enough to show guests you are glad they came to help celebrate an important event in your baby's life. And if the favor idea is stressing you out, ask someone close to you for help. There are plenty of aunts and cousins willing to do the legwork for you while you attend to other aspects of the day. You need only ask.

- My son was baptized nine years ago, we gave his god-parents a little scrap book of all the ways that they had helped us throughout the years. It was full of pictures of all of us together up to the day of the baptism. They cherish their scrap book and display it proudly with pictures of their godson.
