Dog Gone Great -- ha ha -- that's what your lens is. Great Job! Where did you find all the photos of the Obamas and Bo??
  • Edutopia Feb 14, 2012 @ 4:08 am | delete
A great dog and a great breed and this lens promotes a great message: Rescue from shelters whenever you can and especially when you say you will.
  • Jan 27, 2012 @ 6:20 pm | delete
Your rescue pups are wonderful. I have to be careful here, so I will be very polite. I do think President Obama broke a promise. There are shelter dogs that do not cause allergies. My shelter dog "Bo" would rather have had his namesake be another rescue pup. Saving the life of a dog in a shelter would have been a wiser choice for Mr. Obama. Whew, it was hard to reply nicely. I am spent.

Great lens! Lensrolled to Michelle Obama First Tour of Duty, Obama's Daughter and the Princess and the Pauper, where there is a lot of information about adoption!
  • Adrian_dsp Oct 24, 2009 @ 9:17 pm | delete
And a good question...Will they actually put Bo in the "traditional" haircut or a Portuguese Water Dog? I still think they should have gotten a hairless Chinese Crested if they were worried about allergies, but maybe thats just me since I have one :D

We are going to be looking at getting a dog for our kids as soon as we move.
This one is sooo cute, but I am thinking one that doesn't have to have hair cuts, and we will be looking at the shelters for the dog we want!
Great lens, glad it got chosen! It deserves 10 stars!

What a cute lens! I love animals so was already intrigued by the First Dog...this took me over to your lens on their fur so I am really thankful you showed me what to do with the fur after I cut it. My 2 don't shed but have to be trimmed. :) congrats on LOTD!

A great lens! Slaughterhouses contribute to at lest 30% of greenhouse gases and are a huge part of the problem our planet is facing. Please all consider switching your pet to a strict vegetarian diet. It's specism to "love" one kind of animal and to enslave and murder another to feed it. My own beloved rescue dalmatian passed away this Good Friday after 14 years on a strict veggie diet and thrived on it.
  • Wysiwigs May 20, 2009 @ 11:26 am | delete
Fun lens ~ Bo is definitely an adorable dog. I will confess, however, that I was very disappointed that the Obamas did not adopt from a shelter. Congratulations on LOTD, nice job! :o)

Great idea for a lens.I love that your country has a president with humility and compassion.I think that is demonstrated by the way he shows affection for kids and dogs but a guy with a heart like that can make the tough decisions when needed also.

Just another mouth for the taxpayers to feed. But then again, the president had to meet the "wants" and not the needs....This dog will be feed (not like the homeless, from left overs from a dumpster behind a fast food restaurant.)the best of choice foods. Will get the best of health care (not like half our USA citizens who get NONE) will be groomed regularly and will have a bed to sleep in with a roof over it's head. (Nothing like the cardboard box some have to call "home") And all this will be paid for by YOU and all other taxpayers. Don't get me wrong I love dogs and all other pet animals, I just don't see how he could ignore the needs of our vets and homeless. I would rather my tax dollars help them FIRST.
  • Wendy18 Apr 19, 2009 @ 1:04 pm | delete
Nice lens. Sounds like President Obama actually saved Bo from going to a pound and being a shelter dog. So I think he still kept his promise by adopting Bo. I don't think a home is a home unless you've got a pet in it. Pets add so much to the home environment. It's great to see the President's daughters with a furry companion.
  • WendyKrick Apr 16, 2009 @ 8:33 am | delete
Great Lens! I think Bo is adorable.
  • Nochipra Apr 14, 2009 @ 11:09 pm | delete
Great Lens! Bo is totally adorable! I know the President said he would probably get it from a shelter but to get a special dog breed that doesn't shed is hard to find in a shelter somewhere? Plus it was a gift from Ted Kennedy? The girls will be able to say that their dog was a present from a Kennedy. Who else can say that? 5*

    very cute!
  • Greekgeek Apr 13, 2009 @ 1:01 pm | delete
Glad the kids finally got their puppy! Dad's been a little busy, and with all the politics surrounding the choice of a dog-in-need versus Malia's allergies, it's a wonder they ever managed to find one!
Scary when your choice of pet is bound to be criticized by millions.
  • Cinetech Apr 13, 2009 @ 11:24 am | delete
Awesome choice for the Obamas. I'd like to see Bo skate boarding though, so I can feature him in my dog lens. This is a great lens PA!
  • LairMistress Mar 25, 2009 @ 6:09 pm | delete
Well, either breed of dog would be fine for the First Family; but I met a Portuguese water dog a while back, and fell in love with him. Very friendly, affectionate, loves to jump in people's laps, etc. Would be a great ice-breaker for diplomats' first visits to the White House in the new administration...
