Barathrum's Abilities
Aura: Empowering Haste
Damage boost based on speed. Aura increases movement. Causes the Spiritbreaker to swing his weapon faster with higher movement speed, allowing him to deal extra damage. His presence increases the movement speed of nearby allied units.
Passive: Greater Bash
Knockback strikes the enemy sometimes, stunning them. Gives a 17% chance to bash enemies across the ground, doing more initial damage and damage as they skid.
Stun: Charge of Darkness
Sprints Barathrum towards his target. Next hit stuns. Barathrum takes a few seconds to charge up, then charges at his target , merging with the shadows at high speeds. Upon leaving the shadows, Barathrum shocks his opponent into an immobile state for some time. Enemies can only see the buff indicator when he is near his target.
Ultimate stun: Nether Strike
Teleports behind someone and stuns them. Moves you next to your target doing extra damage. Performs a greater bash hit. Casting range improves per level.
Item Choices
My typical item build is something like this: Power Treads, Mask of Madness, Sange & Yasha, Aghanim's Scepter, Assault Cuirass, Black King Bar. Of course, that's only for -em games that last a long time! Don't forget temporary healing items or Bracers.

Helpful tips
You might be tempted to initiate battles with him, but he works best in joining others (or picking off a weakened enemy). Be careful charging from a long distance. Your enemies can tell when it's happening to them, and position themselves somewhere to defend or worse, kill your Barathrum hero.
Anyone you touch on your way to charging gets greater bashed. This can be very useful to support your team, even if you aren't really intending to kill someone with your charge.
