Barbershop Harmony is truely a journey.
Barbershop Harmony has been a great part of my life. But it is often misunderstood...
Out of college, at my first job, in a new town - I immediately had a new group of friends, barbershoppers. You learn singing techniques as a member of a barbershop chorus. You learn to sing tags at the bar afterwards... it is really a great way to learn to sing by ear because if someone takes your note you just find another one that fits in the chord. (This does make it hard to sing in church choirs later in life where they frown on the idea of your taking someone else's note.)
My favorite barbershop memory: Standing in a fast food line in San Antonio, Tx at an international convention in the mid 80's. I got to sing with the "Four Hearsmen." The cool thing about that was the fact that they were international quartet champions in 1955, the year I was born. International Champions stopping to sing a song with me, that was cool!
My favorite Gaither memory: I was so glad that I attended a Gaither Homecoming in Cleveland, OH in the fall of 2004. It was the last time that George Younce performed before he passed away. George was a founding member of the Catheral Quartet. He was a great story teller and I was so privileged to have heard a story told by him. It was a joy to see him on stage.
I will detail more of this journey as this lens grows. More stories on my journey in my history below. - Ed.

Barbershop Harmony Artwork
In 1990, Lori Aman added a barbershop quartet to the many titles available with her Zachary Bear® character. Reference photos were supplied and the male quartet was drawn and became available in the Zachary Bear Product line. In 2006 pictures were provided for a female quartet and Lori created a female quartet design.Look at the module below to see these designs on CafePress. They make fun gifts for yourself, members of your quartet or chorus. There are fun variations for all four sections - tenor, lead, bass and even baritone. The kids section provides apparel for children of barbershoppers. The bib can even be a fun baby shower gift. Click on any product in the section to get you to a variety of choices with these designs.

My History in Barbershop Harmony
When I moved to Philadelphia (fall 1977) I joined the "Chorus of Old York Road" in Abington, PA. As a young kid I taught the "old guys" to smile. The old guys were 30 to 50 but I was one of the 20 somethings. You know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile. I taught stage presence and have a cool way to line up a small group at a sing out. (I'll post that later.) The thrill there was having the Suntones on our annual show.
Later I was a member of a chorus in Greensboro, NC
