This is THE fabulous McIntosh C-20 Preamp. We purchased this preamp at a Pasadena, California estate sale. It came from a home in an old and established upscale neighborhood. Unit is in excellent condition, shows very minor marks upon close inspection. Sounds incredible. All lights working. Inside appears all original. There are no cracks in the glass, no rust or pitting. Approximate measurements 15 3/4" x 12 1/4" x 4 1/2". Endcaps were removed for rack-mounting into a stereo cabinet as was bottom plate, probably for cooling. It has been bench tested and it works perfect. You can tell everything was well taken care of. This is one of McIntosh's best, and is a sweet sounding vacuum tube preamplifier. Capstan belt has been replaced with new EOM unit from Japan. Capstan belt pulleys have been cleaned and oiled. Both capstan pinch rollers have been replaced with new ones. Switches have been cleaned and tested. Tape head alignment has been inspected and adjusted as needed. Tape heads are excellent and have been cleaned and demagnetized. Repairs that have been performed; Adjust RW and FF speed to 7 msec with oscilloscope. Set forward and reverse tape tension to plus 50g with Tentelo meter.
