Barney the Purple Dinosaur - just what is the attraction?
is a favorite with young children. They fall in love with him and want to bring him everywhere.But some parents also like Barney (some also hate him violently which has resulted in a number of bad taste online games).
Why do some parents love him? Well, he entertains children and educates them in a fun way using songs and phrases to get his message across. As a parent, I can use all the help I get in order to get my boys to learn their ABC's etc so if that means putting up with an overgrown purple dinosaur then so be it!
Some parents take exception to the fact that he is false. Well isn't all TV false? Think Little House on the Prarie - how many times I had to tell my mother that my sister and I were the normal ones and not Laura and her siblings. Pleassssssssssssse - how many sisters do you know that never fought at all. Or even worse the Brady bunch!
It is hard to believe that Barney has been going strong for 20 years.
Barney aims to be both fun for children and to help them with their learning. There are Barney videos on ABCs, animals, farms, cookery etc.
