Barnyard Animal Cakes, Cupcakes, and Cookies

This barnyard cake is an assortment of all characteristics of a barnyard. It includes a big red barn, and 4 barnyard animal. Although this cake is quite a challenge to make, you can make it with a lot of time and work.

The first step towards making this cake would be finding a base. I just use a block of wood, and start building my cake on it. I do not suggest icing the base of this cake yet.

The next step would be creating your round cake for the bottom. Make sure that the surface is flat, so that it cake properly hold the barn once you put it on.

The next step would be cover the round cake in green fondant. Don't do anymore decorating to this part of the cake.

Now, you need to make rice krispies treats, and shape the barnyard. This will be one of your largest challenges. You have to use a knife, in order to flatten the sides of the building

The next step is decorating the cake. I'd suggest working from the top to the bottom. Decorate the barn with fondant, and a little bit of icing, for protruding parts of the building.

You also need to add your animals. You can either mold these animals with modeling chocolate, or buy some barnyard cake toppers from amazon or eBay.

The cow cupcakes shown above are actually very easy to make. The first step is baking chocolate cupcakes. Next, you add fondant in the shape of grass, and add flowers. You can use fondant cutters and tools.

Lastly, you must add cow figurines. You should either mold your own cows with modeling chocolate, or buy some cow cupcake toppers,which are shown below.

With this barnyard pig cake pan, you can easily make a pig themed cake, that looks cute, and realistic. There are only a few steps to making this cake.

The first step is baking your cake, and laying it out on a cake carrier, so that you can move the cake, and keep it fresh.

Next, you cover the cake in pink fondant, and add the small details to the eyes, and nose, with cake paint.

These cupcakes are the easiest to make, yet cutest things on this page. You only need to make white or vanilla bean cupcake, add the correct color icing, then mold shapes for each cupcake from modeling chocolate or fondant. If you scroll down, I'll go further in-depth about the usage of fondant, and modeling chocolate on the chicken cupcakes.

This horse themed birthday cake is actually quite simple to make. The only thing you need is a horse cake pan, and fondant. Once you have those two things, you should bake your horse shaped cake in the oven.

After baking it, you should then remove it from the pan, and place it on a cake carrier, or sheet of white covered cardboard, where it will stay, until it is eaten.

After doing this step, you should cover your cake in brown fondant. Just remember to crease in the fondant at the eyes, and nose, so that people can see all of the details.

After applying the brown fondant, you will apply the other colors, to the reigns, eyes, and ropes. For this step, you can choose which ever colors you want to use.

Lastly, write some where on the cake, "Happy Birthday."

These chicken or hen themed barnyard animal cupcakes are extremely cute, and even more easy to make. The first step to making these cupcakes is baking vanilla bean cupcakes.

Next, you ice them with yellow icing, but making sure it is relatively smooth.

Thirdly, you mold beaks, and tops for the chickens heads, out of orange fondant, or modeling chocolate, and put them on the cupcakes.

You last step to making these cupcakes is adding to black dots, by either piping them, or making small blacks balls out of modeling chocolate or fondant.

Making these barnyard animal cookies is actually easier than every other cake and cupcake shown on this page. They require sugar cookie dough, cookie cutters, and icing (I'll explain how to make the icing later).

The first step to making these barnyard animal cookies would be making the sugar cookie recipe. Then use a rolling pin, and rool out the dough, until it is about a quarter of an inch thick.

Now, use some barnyard cookie cutters to cut out the dough. Then bake the cookies according to your sugar cookie recipe.

Once you are done baking the cookies, let them sit until they are room temperature. You can put the cookies in the fridge to speed up this process.

Finally, pipe white thin icing around each cookie. Then make icing out of powdered sugar, and milk(or water, but milk yields better results). This icing doesn't have to be thick, the icing that you piped will hold it on the cookie. Before applying the icing, put icing in separate bowls, and mix colors, acording to how you want to decorate.(For example, if you are making a pig, add red food dye to get the right color.

Finally, add extra details, such a back tips for eyes.

Making this dog themed barnyard cake is quite challenging, because it requires airbrushing, and the use of fondant. I will will walk you through the process of making this dog cake, step by step. Before making the cake, be sure to have a round shaped cake pan, airbrushing tools, and basic fondant tools.

The first step to making this dog themed birthday cake is baking three round sheet cakes. Then, stack and fill them with the icing of your choice. Remember that you will be applying fondant to the cake, so don't make filling that doesn't mesh well with chocolate.

Next, cover your cake with white, or off white fondant. Be sure that you fondant is smooth, and that there are no air bubbles, and wrinkles. These will mess up the appearance of the cake.

Now, airbrush your cake with varying colors of green, that look like grass, just like the cake shown above.

Now, use a piping tool, to pipe the cake with a star shaped piping tip, and make small patches of cake, almost everywhere. Just remember to leave a patch with none of the piped grass, so that you can write "Happy Birthday".

Now, add some dog cake toppers, which can be bought online, or made with fondant and modeling chocolate on to the top of the cake. Unless your are experienced with modeling, I suggest just getting some dog cake toppers.

Finally, pipe, with a small round tip, message on the cake, like shown above.
