Baseball Collectibles and Memorabilia

Baseball collectibles and baseball memorabilia make excellent gifts and are great for home decorating for all Major League Baseball fans! Baseball collectibles, (bobbleheads) like memorabilia in any other sport, have price tags based on demand, value to the current owner, and value to prospective buyers as well. Make sure you do your homework with a published price guide to compare how an item is priced for you versus what it's selling for around the world, if you are interested in the collectible value. If you just like collecting them or just like a certain piece, by all means get it.

Sports auction houses, such as MastroNet Inc., have been dealing Japanese baseball memorabilia ever since the first Japanese players entered the American major leagues in the 1960s. With the major league success of Japanese players such as pitcher Hideo Nomo and 2001 MVP outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, even major auction houses are selling Japanese baseball memorabilia. Sports memorabilia covers just about all of the sports. It doesn't matter if it is football, baseball, basketball, racing, tennis, soccer or golf - every game has its own special heroes...

People Love Bobbleheads

Bobbleheads are in such demand at this time that sport teams with traditionally poor attendance sell out on bobblehead giveaway nights. Although bobbleheads as giveaways can be expensive for the stadium, the added ticket and concession sales resulting from these giveaways more than make up for their expense. Bobbleheads are not as fragile as some think, but they do need some care when displaying. Keep them on a shelf or in a display case away from sunlight (and hopefully away from dust) and also away from curious hands that want to "bobble" them. Bobbleheads are back in the mainstream and as popular as ever. Although, the earliest known bobblehead ever to be created in 1842, the modern day bobblehead appeared in the 1950?s.

Baseball Card Collecting

Baseball cards in the United States have gone through numerous changes from quality to production and marketing to distribution and use. The earliest baseball cards were targeted primarily at adults as they were produced and associated by Photographers selling services and Tobacco companies in order to market wares. Baseball cards are collectible mementos of your favorite players? Baseball cards have been around almost as long as professional baseball itself. In the beginning, baseball cards were packaged as a "bonus" with other products such as tobacco, candy or gum in order to boost sales of those products.

Collecting baseball memorabilia is not only an interesting fun hobby but it could also very well be a profitable one. There are a number of people and even companies around the world who make a living trading and selling sports memorabilia be it from the Chicago Bulls, the Portland Trailblazers or the Indianapolis Colts. Collecting baseball cards has been an enduring hobby for over 100 years.
