Baseball Drills

All the best baseball player's have a series of baseball drills they practice consistently to keep their skills sharp. The key to success in baseball is to be able to consistently reenact a successful motion, whether it be fielding, throwing, or hitting.

What Baseball Drills Work

That is the question facing everyone who invests time into this game. You only have so much time to devote to practice, what should you focus on. I am a big believer in focusing on hitting, the reason for this is that hitting is the most valuable tool a baseball player can possess. I believe when allotting time to baseball-specific activities that baseball drills should be the major focus. After all, even the great Braves pitching staff of the 90s could tell you, chicks DIG the long ball.

This video has both of them, I wouldn't suggest the skeet shooting drill though. Not very effective.

How do Baseball Drills Make Me Hit Better

Well, we've established that the very best baseball drills are the ones that will get you hitting the ball consistently, but what does that mean. Well, it is essential for baseball player's to improve and/or perfect three main facets of their swing.

1. The load- this refers to your step and what you do with your hands before you swing it affects the timing of your swing as well as the timing within your swing.

2. Bat Speed- this is how quickly you whip the bat through the zone, you know it's too slow if people can read the label of the bat AS you swing.

3. Hip Rotation- the great hitters have trained their hips to carry them through the zone and improve their power.

Use all the baseball drills you know and find new ones to improve on all these facets of the game and this could be you.
