Basic Bonsai Care

The correct basic Bonsai care can result in a beautiful tree that will give hours of looking pleasure.

This lens will give you the basic care needed to grow and maintain your Bonsai.

Basic Bonsai Care: Watering

Watering your Bonsai is the most crucial part of taking care of your Bonsai.

This is because of the limited space in the pot. Too much watering will rot the roots, while too little will cause dehydration.

The proper soil will also help you maintain the correct moisture content.

Basic Bonsai Care: Repotting

Most Bonsai need repotting often to prevent the roots from becoming overgrown and preventing growth of the plant. Obviously, this takes place less often as the tree matures.

Younger Bonsai are often placed in growing boxes. This encourages the growth and development of the root system. These Bonsai are then usually placed into smaller training boxes before they are placed in thier final presentation pot.

Basic Bonsai Care" Tools

There is a specific set of basic tools that Bonsai gardeners use. They are listed below.

- leaf trimmer
- rake with spatula
- root hook
- coir brush
- concave cutter
- knob cutter
- wire cutter
- small, medium and large shears

While these tools are the basic ones, others like branch bending jacks are used too.
