You Will Need Some Supplies

There are a few supplies that you are going to need for your herb garden. Of course, these supplies vary depending on which type of herb garden you are creating. The list includes all the supplies necessary for both gardens. Some of the supplies are going to be the same so the list is combined for the purpose of being brief.

If Using A Container You will Need To Prepare It

If you are using a container or containers to create your herb garden, prepare the container by placing the soil in it. Then depending on the type of fertilizer you are using add the fertilizer to create the growing environment. You may or may not depending on the type of soil you get want to wet the soil down before planting.

If you are, using seeds follow the planting instructions for the types of herbs you are planting. If you are using already established plants follow replanting instructions. These are usually listed with the plant, but can be found online if necessary. Make sure that you look at the lighting needs of your herbs and place them in areas that receive the right amount of light and shade to ensure proper growth.

Thanks for the information. I'm starting a herb garden this year. My thyme in a pot survived through the winter and I purchased some basil on the weekend. Will get a few more herbs and start planting.

I really want to do this with my kids. We are going to start by using jars kept on the front porch when it starts to warm up. If it goes well, we'll move to larger pots in the backyard. Great lens. Thanks for the info.

Excellent lens. I love plants and gardening and just don't make the time to do much of it. Luckily I like succulents and they tend to take care of themselves. ;-). Other than that I make terrariums. I can make them in a day and they pretty much take care of themselves too. My cats can't eat them that way either. I make a lens on terrariums if you are interested. Bear hugs, Frankster
