Hand Crafted by Amish People
These baskets are terrific collectibles by an Amish couple. They hand sign each and every piece. These are made from split wood, in a fancy weave with amazing details. The pictures don't do them justice, by a long shot.
The second set you will see are also very neat, by a clever Amish craftsman. The wooden collapsible baskets are an ancient folk art, kept alive by the Amish craftsmen since they immigrated to America from the Old World. Out of one piece of wood, the basket portion hangs! When folded, it is used as a trivet, or as a weight at picnics to keep the napkins from flying away. You may see similar baskets by other Amish craftsmen, but you won't see them so well made, and finished so well.
