Some interesting Bass Guitar facts
Originally called the "Bass Fiddle", the Bass Guitar was invented by Paul Tutmarc in the 1930's in Seattle, Washington.Leo Fender was the first to mass produce the Bass Guitar. The famous Fender Precision Bass became the standard for bass guitars and has been copied and used ever since.
The Bass Guitar can be heard in almost any music genre: punk rock, blues, jazz, reggae, rock, heavy metal and pop!
Silvertone Bass Guitar and Amp Package
The Silvertone LB11 Bass Guitar and Amp Package, Liquid Black is top of the list because of the quality and price. This bass guitar is perfect for both the novice and experienced musician alike.
Its all in one package, bag, tuner, picks and amplifier included allows for immediate set up and playing once it arrives. As if this wasn't enough, Silvertone includes an instructional DVD about how to get started on the bass.
While the bass itself is well crafted, there is some concern about the strap and bag padding. For this reason, playing for long periods may be taxing for the shoulder. Still at the price, with an amp included, one may want to simply buy a higher quality strap and make the purchase.
The included amplifier sounds excellent. The amp is sufficiently loud and could possibly go to eleven. It mixes perfect with other band instruments including drums.
This Silvertone package is great for a starter kit, though should not be limited to only beginners. Anyone looking for an all in one package should consider it!!

Dean Starter Bass Pack
The Dean Starter Bass Pack with Edge 09 Bass is another great option for, though not limited to, beginners. Like the Silvertone, the Dean has an amplifier, cord, bag, strap, tuner and picks.
The bass itself is high quality craftsmanship, its sleek metallic red appearance appears like it was custom made and should cost a lot more. It is also lighter than it appears, less taxing for long jam sessions.
It features a wood body, a strong maple neck and abalone inlays on the fret.
Like the above package, some of the other included components (the bag and strap) are not as high quality. It would probably be wise to invest in a guitar case rather than a bag to haul around this beauty.
The bass overall is easy to play and great for the experience or novice musician.

Squier by Fender
Nothing sounds quite like a Fender. The Squier by Fender looks and plays wonderfully. Its slightly higher price is not just for the brand, but the workmanship.
The bass features a glossy finish, maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. Also included is a 15 watt amplifier, enough to fill any room and higher quality/capacity than the above models.
We have yet to find a package that includes good quality extras, however. The included bag and tuner could be improved.
With the quality of the bass and amplifier, for the price, Fender could get by just charging for these alone. The extras are just icing on the cake. If you do go with such a high quality bass, it would be best to invest in a case anyway.
Overall, this Fender model lives up to its name. It is ready to play and sounds pristine right out of its package.

Dean Acoustic-Electric Bass
We've included the electric, but for the real bass enthusiast, you can never go wrong with the subtle and crisp sound of an acoustic.
Its brand is not top of the list for many, but the Dean Acoustic-Electric Bass gets the job done quite well.
Great quality mahogany and rosewood make up the body; the fretboard containing pearl dot inlays. The preamp is well labeled and easy to use, with both treble and volume control.
You cannot beat the price for the quality. Because you didn't have to mortgage your house to get it, you don't have to prep it up or favor it..take it where you will and its hardwood body will survive.
Overall this is a unique and playable package. This should be considered by anyone experienced or just starting the acoustic experience!

Epiphone El Capitan Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar
In being fair to all brands, we have to consider a high end model. While definitely a particular taste, the Epiphone El Capitan should be any bass lover's consideration.
Its very appearance is relaxing and sublime. It has dual functioning acoustic electric features. Standard, top craftsmanship hardwood body and neck with chrome hardware allows for a vintage crisp sound.
Because of the workmanship, it is long lasting. Those into bass for the long haul should consider this model or brand. Priced similar to a Fender and just as high quality.
