Batnomicon: the Lensography

I'm Miss Bat and welcome to my biographical lens! I guess you really need one when you spend loads of time on Squidoo. It's what the cool kids are up to! Here's where you'll find out more about me and all my lenses.

A lil' bit about me.

Just who the heck am I?

Everyone calls me Bat, except my mom. It's a nickname I've had for so long now it's really stuck. I'm a I'm a twenty-something internet junkie who discovered Squidoo through a good friend of mine and got hooked. I've become rather established here on Squidoo, with quite a niche of SquidBoo Halloween costume lenses. I'm also a Giant 100 Squid and currently a SquidAngel.

I grew up and still live in the fantastic bit of land known as the state of Oregon. Most of my family is here in the Northwest, between Oregon and Washington. I've also done quite a bit of traveling in my lifetime; a major portion of the continental 48, Canada, Alaska, and England. Someday I would like to travel to Japan, Norway, and Australia, as well as get to the East Coast.

Before Squidoo, I already had a background in HTML and Web Design. I fancy myself pretty good with words and I like to write. I also have a certification in Medical Insurance Coding & Billing. Currently I work freelance as a webmaster for a local chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders. I've also tried to make Squidoo a full time "job", with my lenses and SquidAngel responsibilities.

In addition to being an internet junkie, I'm also an entertainment freak. I love film, television, music, and books. I also have a wacky knack for remembering a lot of pop culture and trivia, so a lot of my lenses tend to revolve around these subjects. My condo is crammed with shelves full of books, DVDs, and CDs. Halloween is my favorite holiday (after my birthday of course!) so I really love SquidBoo! I also collect Halloween decor and my favorite critter is (surprise surprise) the humble bat. Someday I hope to make a lens about my collection of bat-related items.

And before you ask, if Eddie Izzard can poke badgers with spoons, I can poke people with a spork. The spork doesn't get enough attention!

I Love Literature!

I'm always reading books, or pretty much anything that has text on it. Here's some of my favorite authors and books.

Bat's Library

Books on my nightstand.

Reading is a passion and I'm always in the middle of half a dozen books at once. Here's what I'm currently enjoying!

Hollywood & Vine

Movie Related Lenses I've Created

It's Fun To Be a Vampire!

One of my all-time favorite films is the cult-classic teen vampire film The Lost Boys. Here's a bunch of lenses about the film, its cast, and characters!

Be One of Us!

Below you will find lenses dedicated to the actors who formed the gang of teen vamps in The Lost Boys.

Sequels That Shouldn't Have Been Made

Twenty years after the release of The Lost Boys, the movie received a direct-to-DVD sequel. Called Lost Boys: The Tribe it was supposed to pick up where the original left off. Unfortunately, it failed in every way possible. That didn't stop me from making lenses about it!

Be Excellent to Each Other!

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure was another film I grew up watching. Take an excellent trip through time and check out these lenses!

And All That Could Have Been...

Nine Inch Nails is one of my favorite bands. Now that Trent Reznor, the master-mind and founder behind the band, is hanging up his microphone for a while, sit back and learn about their music, or maybe relive the glory days.

Kings of the Desert

Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal are two more of my favorite bands. With the driving force that is the Ginger Elvis, Josh Homme and his Palm Desert crew rock hard for the boys but love the ladies too!

More of my Favorite Music

If it's a band or musician I love, you can bet I'll make a lens about them!

Albums that Have Changed my Life

Pretty Hate Machine

Nine Inch Nails' debut album is a must-own for any music collection. Continuing to prove twenty years later why Trent Reznor is a genius.

Superunknown

One of the first albums I bought with my own money at 13, the album that made Soundgarden a household name through-out the world is still dark, hard, and quintessentially grunge rock.

Mechanical Animals

Marilyn Manson's third album holds a special place in my heart and reminds me of a lot of good times. Which is probably really strange to associate with the shock rock group, but I was a huge fan back in the day.

Cabin Fever

Rasputina's third album is full of some of my most favorite songs. I've had the honour of seeing Melora & Co live seven times. The only band that could ever be worthy of the title 'cello rock'!

Era Vulgaris

The latest album from Queens of the Stone Age, it's proven itself irresistible to my stereo and I can't stop listening to it. I'm strangely addicted to all things Josh Homme records.

Explore the World: Travel!

I've been fortunate enough to get to do a lot of traveling. Here are some lenses on my favorite places to visit!

Health and Medical Topics

I've always been fascinated by the medical world, have even been trained in coding medical insurance claims. I enjoy learning about all the things that can go wrong for us, as well as exciting medical advancements. Plus, I've undergone two major surgies in my life. Check out these lenses!

This is Halloween!

My favorite holiday, after my birthday of course.

One of the best times of year, because you get to dress up in outrageous costumes, tell scary stories, and people give you candy!

The Unicorn Tapestries

These famous examples of medieval tapestry are known world-round. Entitled The Hunt of the Unicorn, these seven pieces of art are invaluable in terms of history. Check out this niche lens as well as each individual tapestry lens.
