Top Bath Toys for Preschoolers Aged 3, 4 and 5 Years Old

My son is currently 4, almost 5 and once I manage to get him in the bath, he loves playing with bath toys. This article rounds up the bath toys he likes to play with as well as the ones I've researched and I'm going to get him for Christmas 2011.

When looking for a bath toy bear in mind the following:

Price: Some bath toys don't last for long as they often become slightly mouldy after a few months and need to be replaced (unless you are brilliant at cleaning them). Therefore if you suspect the toy you are buying might be in this category don't spend too much money on it. It's good to read reviews to see if this happens. Also, some of the bath toys my 4 year old loves the most are the cheapest, this include sticky letters and bath crayons.

Storage: Many bath toys have their own storage bag and containers which is always a bonus as it means you can clear up quickly and easily after bathtime.

Educational factor: Obviously most bath toys are lots of fun as they are designed to get children to enjoy their bath. However, there are many educational ones too which leads to learning in the bath.

Read on for the top bath toys for 3, 4 and 5 year old below.

Bath Stickers

Bath stickers have kept my son occupied in the bath since he was 3. These toys stick to the tiles and sides of the bath. There are lots of great options of bath stickers. My 4 year old is currently obsessed with letters and so loves his letter bath stickers. He is just starting to read so often I will spell a couple of words on the sides of the bath for him to read so these toys can be educational too.
You can get bath stickers which build roads on the side of the bath and more.

When buying look for one with a storage container so you can just throw in all the bits at the end of bathtime.

Art Bath Toys

Another one of my 4 year olds current top bath toys are bath crayons. He loves drawing, scribbling and writing his name on the side of the bath. I do have to clean the bath afterwards but the crayons we use come off really easily. It may be worth just double checking that the crayons you are using come off the bath before you let your preschooler loose. And I would recommend cleaning the bath shortly after use too.

Also don't let them crayon in the grout between tiles as it may be difficult to get off.

If you would prefer not to have them draw on the bath, consider getting a crayola floating art desk. It floats above the child's lap or you can use the suction cups to stick it to the side of the bath.

Musical Toys

There are lots of great musical toys for the bath that are educational too. I love the musical flutes and what a great way to teach children that you can make different sounds and notes by filling the flutes with different amounts of water.
