Bathroom Decorating Ideas

"WOW! Your bathroom looks fabulous - You must have spent a fortune!"

This was my sisters reaction when she recently visited and saw my bathroom for the first time since I decorated it.

He he - I didn't tell her 'how easy (and cheap) it had been' - I should have told her all about the little book I found - I should have shared my new found bathroom decorating secrets - but I didn't.

So, now that I am feeling a little guilty (only a little though) about not sharing these bathroom decorating ideas with her; I thought I'd share them with you.

I don't know about you but decorating my bathroom was a scary thought; and I had put it off way too long. The rest of the house was definitely looking all the better for my new found decorating prowess but our small bathroom really need some help.

I discovered my love of decorating a while ago but it was not until I read this cool book, that it all started to fall into place.

Well, anyway it was time to tackle decorating the bathroom. I don't know why I was so worried - with a few color tips, ideas for bathroom walls and some  neat storage suggestions - it looks so professional and yet is still practical.

My secret - I have not told my sister but I'm going to tell you it's...

The Secret To Home Decorating Success

... now do I tell my sister about this or not?

Bathroom Decorating Tip #1

Towel Racks

This is a simple and budget idea that can be incorporated into almost any bathroom - Simple, Cheap and Colorful.

Get some decorative Towel Racks, you can find some attractive ones at reasonable prices at hardware stores or discount stores.

And store your towels on them - don't hide your brightly colored towels away in a cupboard. This adds instant color to your room and plus there is no more dripping wet across the room looking for a clean towel.

Now this is a simple idea any one can implement.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #2

Un-Clutter

Un clutter - Start by removing the clutter from your bathroom. Go through the cabinets and shelves and throw out everything you don't need. Find some neat organizational systems for your drawers and cupboards.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #3

Hooks

Hooks - Add hooks to the back of your bathroom door. This will give you space for hanging robes or other items - which is especially important in small rooms.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #4

Handles

Handles - This is a straightforward idea that can make an astounding difference to your bathroom cabinets. Try new attractive handles on your cabinets. If you're really ambitious, try a new coat of paint to your cabinets too.

Adding new cabinet door handles is pretty painless and you will be shocked by the massive assortment of attractive styles and color choices you can find.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #5

Shelf

Shelf - Add a shelf in your bathroom. Take a look around there is probably a lot of space wasted on the walls where you could add one - like above the sink or hand rails. It does not have to be very wide but wide enough to store a few decorative items like bottles of lotions and perfume. Add hooks to the bottom on the shelf and you have somewhere to hang robes and spare towels.

You can often pick up pre made shelves and brackets that just need a couple of screws into the wall and your done.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #6

Rugs

Rugs - Add a throw rug to the floor. It adds a splash of color and some personality. Match your rug colors with your towels.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #7

Towel Racks

Towel Racks - Why hide your brightly colored towels away in the cupboard, when you can have them out on display. Put them out on display to add color to your room.

Keep hand towels in a small ring or rack near the sink. Have larger racks close to the shower or bath. There are many decorative styles of racks you can choose from - shop around and you are sure to find one just perfect.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #8

Mirrors

Mirror - Mirrors tend to deteriorate after time. Instead of the boring rectangle mirror try a new mirror or mirrors in an oval or other unusual shape. Also consider a unique frame around the border to add interest. Don't be afraid to try something different instead.

Bathroom Decorating Tip #9

Faucets

Faucets - No longer just chrome. They now come in a huge variety of solid colors and metallic finishes. It's amazing what a lift just a faucet can add to your kitchen décor.
