Bat Mitzvah

A Bat Mitzvah is a highlight in any young Jewish girl's life. Like a 21st, a bat mitzvah is a celebration of the young girl now becoming a young woman or "responsible female". This takes place at the girl's 12th birthday (a boy's bar mitzvah is on his 13th birthday. After all, we all know that girls mature faster than boys anyhow.

Whether the girl is as responsible as they say she is or whether you still consider her very young, the fact is that a Jewish girl can look forward to a real blow-out of a party at this time in her life as a celebration of the new phase of life she is entering into.

If it's your little girl's bat mitzvah coming up then you want to let everyone know about this exciting event. A little later we will discuss how you can create great Bar Mitzvah party invitations online, but for now let's brainstorm a few party ideas:

Party Ideas and Themes for Your Little Girl's Bat Mitzvah

There are no religious rules to follow when it comes to organizing a bat mitzvah. You can have an elaborate bat mitzvah at the country club or a small, intimate bat mitzvah at your home. Whatever you decide to do, you will want it to be fun and memorable. Here are a few suggestions you may like to try:
  • Role Reversal: The Role Reversal party has girls taking the role of the boys, and vice versa. The girls will pull out the chairs for the boys and bring them drinks; the girls ask the boys to dance, etc. The only exception to this rule is that everybody must wait on the birthday girl.

  • Story Speeches: Everyone gets a chance to tell stories in honour of the birthday girl. As parents you will start the story telling with funny, sad, and scarey times you have been through with your daughter and then tell her how proud of her you are. Then allow other guests to share stories they have experienced with your daughter and tell what they like about her. The important thing is to use this time to really build your daughter up and make it special for her.

Create Free Bat Mitzvah Party Invitations Online

The important thing about a bat mitzvah is that it is memorable - not how much money you spend on it. One of the best ways you can make this a truly memorable occasion and keep those memories alive is by creating an online invitation that can later be altered to include the birthday photos, special sayings for the birthday girl and anything else that is meaningful to your daughter or the party you organize.

You can sign up for a free account at Events Listed Bat Mitzvah page and then start creating your own free, personalized web page with details of the party, photos of your daughter, her favorite music and more. Then when the party is over go back and add more photos, add some of the special things people said about her or the stories they told and keep the page going as a lasting memorial of a very special day in your daughter's life.

Went to my good friend's daughter's Bat mitzvah last year. A very proud time for
her parents and family. It's interesting a girl has hers at 12 and the boy at 13.
It would suggest boys take longer to grow up, but are still expected to follow
the torah once they reach 13. I think it's a good thing that the jewish faith expects
boys and girls to accept responsibility at an early age.

A Bat Mitzvah is not allowed in every synagogue. I remember being the third female to have a Bat Mitzvah in a synagogue that was over 75 years old. it's an honor and a privilege to become a responsible member of your Jewish community in this way.

It's not just about the party, but being able to spend a happy occasion with family and friends! :)
