Things to do in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Here's a lens for things to do, places to go, places to eat and play in the great southern city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. To the left is a picture I took a couple of summers ago of my son, Tyler when we went on a visit to our state capitol building in Baton Rouge. It was a good little trip for the day and a great place for anyone to go visit. You can go all the way up to the top and see all over downtown Baton Rouge and look over the tremendous Mississippi River too.

Welcome to Baton Rouge

Perkins Rowe- A unique place for shopping and dining

If you haven't been to Perkins Rowe, this place is really cool. I felt like I was in a different city when I went to see a movie here with my wife. It has restaurants, movie theater, and all kinds of other stores and shops. It's like it's own little city. Perkins Rowe is located at the corner of Perkins Road and Bluebonnet Blvd. right past the Mall of Louisiana. It has residential condos too. A unique experience for Baton Rouge shopping, dining, and even living can be found at Perkins Rowe. Update- I just had lunch at La Madalyn at Perkins Rowe yesterday with my family The food was good and the place was very nice with lots of good people working there.

LSU Football

A visit to Tiger Stadium is a must

Hey, if you go to Baton Rouge during the college football season you must experience a game in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night, You can usually find tickets to buy somewhere on campus from a fan or at the ticket office next to the stadium. Be careful during the really big games of counterfeit tickets. You must be careful to avoid getting scammed. I have season tickets so I don't have to worry about this. Anyway, Saturday night in Tiger Stadium is a fun time even if you're just a casual football fan. Of course, depending on how big of a game it is will also play a part in how pumped up the crowd is. A game against a top opponent like the Florida Gators is intense. You will also have a hard time finding a ticket for a game like that. The crowd, the tail gating experience before the game all lead to quite a full day of fun on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.

LSU Tigers BCS Champions BRG Version

I made this video after LSU won the 2007 National Championship against Ohio State in the BCS Sugar Bowl game. It's a good one and I think you'll like it. That was a really great team the Tigers had that year and an exciting time for Tiger fans.

Mall of Louisiana

Shop until you drop at the mall.

The Mall of Louisiana is located at Interstate 12 just off Bluebonnet Blvd. It has tons of shopping venues for just about everything you expect at a mall. The major anchor stores have changed some over the years but you can find all the clothing stores and electronics and whatever else you need here. Update- There's been lots of changes at the Mall of Louisiana lately. They have a lot of new stores outside in the back of the ball including a Mac store that had tons of people there yesterday with the release of the latest iPhone. There's also a number of new restaurants and also new roads in the back connecting to a new theater and more shops like Dick's Sporting Goods.
