AXION 7" PORTABLE TV - GREAT FOR POWER OUTAGE
The search for a new digital portable TV led to the discovery that many options are now available. After lots of research and after reading numerous reviews for various portable TVs, I settled on the Axion 7" Portable TV. The first decision in the purchase process was determining how and where the TV would be used. For me, the Axion Portable TV was part of updating my hurricane survival kit. At first blush, a TV does not sound like an essential for hurricane survival, but when the power goes off this becomes an important source of information. When Hurricane Ike hit the Houston area, the power outage was widespread and lengthy. In my neighborhood (Sugar Land), the power was off for eight days. During that time, two tiny old portable TVs provided current status of the disaster. Many gas stations, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. were closed. I was able to find out where I could find gas and where I could find ice for my cooler. Ice was in short supply along with everything else.
After Ike, the digital television took over and the old portables no longer work. The Axion Portable TV includes a built-in tuner and built-in antenna. You can enjoy a crisp picture and good color. The Axion 7" Portable TV package includes an AC adaptor, remote control, an external antenna, car adapter and A/V cables. This portable TV would be great on a long car trip or on a camping trip. Priced under $100, the Axion 7" Portable TV is a great value.

REVIEWS BY USERS OF THE AXION 7" PORTABLE TV

Beth C. Roman wrote: "I had a 5" black and white in my kitchen and knew with the digital conversion, I would need something else. I ordered this based on the 2 reviews out there at the time and I am so pleased with this TV. . . . The picture is clear as a whistle and the sound is very good, not muffled or fuzzy at all. The wide screen is another bonus, most of the digital HD channels are in wide screen mode so it works out well. This is a no brainer to set up and I am so glad I took the plunge and bought it!"
TMichel59 wrote: "I bought this little TV for my wife for Christmas to replace the Sony 5" b&w that she uses in the kitchen. Unlike the Sony, it will be connected to cable so I figured reception won't be a problem. To test it before wrapping I auto-programmed it but only 4 local channels worked. This one came with a yellow tape strip on the back stating that the battery MUST be charged before the first use so out of desperation I followed the instructions and it worked great after that!! Sharp clear picture, good color, sound a little "small" but has "presence". I like it. So if all else fails read the directions!"
D. Perkins wrote: "I had little hope for great reception from this portable TV. I live in the country 50 miles from the transmitter towers. . . . digital reception is amazing. The picture is as sharp as my digital cable connected LCD and sound quality is also excellent for the size of the speakers. The remote does not have a power or volume control function which would be nice. On battery power it operates about two hours. I am so pleased with this TV and may buy another one for my office."
Robert Smith wrote: "I have tried the features on the TV and they are great. I wish the battery lasted longer but it is about par for the course. Then comes the remote. Selecting channels with the up and down buttons is okay. . . there is no power button on the remote. So I have to go to the set to turn it on and off. Overall the TV gets a 5-star; the remote gets a 1-star."
Jennifer K wrote: "We have tried this unit for 4 months now without any problems. We use it in the kitchen, sitting on a little shelf above the sink. We had had a pull down unit which had broken, after thinking about it, how many clocks, CD players, etc. do you need in a kitchen? . . . The unit works fine, the picture quality might be just a little higher, but for the price of this unit, we are very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it without hesitation."

YES, YOU NEED A PORTABLE DIGITAL TV

For anyone living in an area prone to power outages, a portable TV is a life saver. Hurricanes and tropical storms frequently leave us in the dark in Houston, Galveston and surrounding cities. These natural disasters often require evacuation and this critical information is transmitted by television. During Hurricane Ike, TV was the source of information for open stores and restaurants, gas availability and where precious ice could be found. So, in these situations you definitely need a portable TV.
Campers also find new digital portable TV a great addition to the camping gear. It can keep restless kids occupied while mom and dad get the campfires going. Campers can stay updated on important news events or weather developments. These little TVs are also wonderful on long car trips. The portable TV with DVD or VCR built-in is an excellent choice for car trips and camping trips with children.
If you have someone living in a dorm room, the Axion 7" Portable TV is perfect. Dorm rooms are small and space becomes precious. This great little TV can be moved around, taken to the beach or on a camping trip and back home to the dorm.
