Try to use the unit you are considering before you finally purchase. Most stores will have demonstration units that you can review. Motion blur on the images produced by cheaper LCD screens is common so look out for that. Pixels have a measurable response time The cheaper models just aren't capable of keeping up with the changes required for fast moving images. Good quality systems may cost a little more but the picture quality will be greatly improved without the motion blurring of the cheaper models.

Also take note of the viewing angle. A high viewing angle simply means that you can view the TV at different angles and still get a great picture. Most portable battery operated TV's will be viewed from the front so it is not as crucial.

If more than one person is going to be viewing the TV at a time then you give the viewing angle more consideration. A common size that you will see in battery operated TVs is the 7 inch model. This size represents a good price point as mass production brings the price down quite dramatically. The brighter the screen the better the picture viewing will be in brightly lit areas. Higher resolution pictures will also give you the most viewing pleasure.

In times of emergency it's comforting to know that technology can come to our aid and help us get through a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado or earthquake. Portable radios have been in every household emergency kit for many years now but now it's possible to have a battery operated tv as well.

National emergency information is also broadcast over TV these days so make sure you can receive it with a battery operated TV. Avoid the models that have lithium batteries in them as you won't be able to recharge them while the power is out.

An excellent piece of technology for taking to the beach, camping or having a tailgate party.

Traditionally, a portable TV would have a smaller screen in the same ratio of 4:3 as their bigger CRT brethren. This means that when you are watching a broadcast in HD you are going to get the black lines at the top and the bottom.

Many people who haven't upgraded yet might find this acceptable on a large CRT TV, but on a smaller portable TV screen it can make the picture way too small for comfortable viewing.

HD has reached a saturation point where it might be a good time to upgrade and add a new dimension to your viewing. HD TV's are now quite popular, and reasonably priced, and we are seeing the older 4:3 models slowly but surely get discontinued.
