Battlefield 2142

This is the latest installment of the Battlefield series from Dice/EA. Based on the same engine used in  Battlefield 2, 2142 offers enhanced game play, upgraded graphics and a new game mode. Up to 32 players fight against each other in either Conquest mode or the new Titan mode.   As in most FPS, conquest mode is about capturing control points (flags) to deplete the other's side's tickets.  In titan mode, players need to control five missile silos in order to bring down their opponents Titan's shields, allowing a direct assault on the titan itself. Once inside, four consoles must be destroyed first, allowing access to the titan core. The game round ends when one of the titan's cores has been destroyed.   2142 has persistant player score tracking, awards and medals for in-game feats.   The game is squad based oriented, giving bonuses to players that play in squads. 2142 also supports VOIP.  There has been a booster pack released, Northern Strike. It adds 3 new maps and a new game mode, Assault lines.  Currently the booster is available only through a download from EA link.
