Perhaps you're just looking for some wings for your Halloween costume? Why not try some bat wings!Did you know?
Bats belong to a group of flying mammals called Chiroptera, a Greek word that means "hand-wing". They are mammals because they are warm-blooded, have fur, give birth to their young and nurse them with milk. Bats are the only mammals that actively fly. Bats' wings are skin stretched over their fingers, not feathers.

Bats eat lots of different things, depending on the species. Fruit bats enjoy fruit, spreading the seeds in their guano (droppings) as they fly from roost to roost. Some bats eat pollen, helping to make new flowers. Other bats eat meat, like frogs and small fish, and insects. They use echolocation to find their prey. Some bats can eat up to 500 mosquitoes an hour, helping out humans. There are only three types of "vampire" bats, who drink blood from animals.

Bats like to roost, hanging upside down by their clawed feet with their wings wrapped around them. Thousands of bats can live in a colony, pressed tightly together. Some live in trees, others live in caves. Still others roost in man-made structures, like bridges, old mines, and sometimes houses. People can make or buy special "bat houses" to hang for bats to roost in.

Bats are nocturnal, flying at night when their prey is most active. They also use their noses to find food, mates, and babies.
