The nickname seemed to be easier for the American public to grasp than my full German name resembling a Middle-Eastern heritage, phonetically. Then, the frequent question "Chef Kim?" ruined it all again.

This Bavarian chef wears many hats - as a lodge chef in Alaska, entertaining the guests with his silly comedy routines, as a promoter of his business ventures in Austin, TX and across the country, as a musician and artist designing advertising campaigns for his own products, and now also as a healthy foods internet marketeer.

The nickname became a brand, intentionally associated with my specialty food brand "Chef Keem's Agasweet flavored agave nectar".

The nickname yields many pages of relevant Google search results. Thanks to Squidoo.com!

The Chef

Everybody loves a chef...

Mom served Austrian/Bohemian cuisine in our Munich home.
Dad baked the cakes and prepared his wonderful elbow macaroni with ground beef sauce.
Achim ate. And played in bands. And became a musician.
Achim met a nice girl from San Antonio, Texas and moved to America!

Years later, I rediscovered my passion for cooking and enrolled in Chef School.
After several years of cooking in some of Austin's fine restaurants I started my own specialty food company.

The artist's view

Every year, between August and October, I cook for the guests at the Driftwood Lodge in SE Alaska. In 2006, famous wildlife artist Ronnie Wells spent a week of fishing and eating with us. One day, I gave him a big lump of molding chocolate with the request: "Make me!" He did.

If you ever come to Salado, Texas, you must stop at the Wells Gallery. Ronnie's sculptures and painting are on display in many places across the nation and his roster of accolades seems to be endless.

The Entrepreneur

I love to be my own boss!

After graduating from high school in 1966, I tried "employment" for a while: apprentice in a large ad company, apprentice in a tiny ad company, film developer for Bavarian Film Studios (one day, I had to step down from a side walk on the studio lot, so Orson Welles could pass), retail store clerk - nothing was "creative" enough for me.

Years later, in America, I tried it again, working as a line cook, pastry chef, or sous chef for various restaurants. Finally, in 2001 I was laid off and started my own company, "Sweet Venus Delights".

Now, I want to be a successful online marketeer, too! Look, I'm 59 years old, in May of 2008. I don't have much time left, so help me out and gimme star ratings in order to secure my retirement income. ;-)

The Composer

From German pop to lonely tunes...

There was a period in my younger years when I seemed to be always in the right place, at the right time, meeting the right people. Around 1971, one of Germany's most successful lyricist and record producer, Michael Kunze, took me under his wings. I wrote the tunes, he added the lyrics, and then he shopped our songs to record companies. We wrote for GAS (Germany/Austria/Switzerland) artists such as Peter Maffay, Caterina Valente, Chris Roberts, Rex Gildo, Peter Alexander, and many new singing talents. The picture shows me (Konjack) with my duo partner Olaf Kaminski on the cover of a silly little song single we'd released in 1979, just for the fun of it.

In 1973, CBS Germany hired me to run their Munich A & R office, and I had the great fortune to meet and work with incredible stars of the music scene, i.e. Chicago, (I'm so proud that Chicago bass man Jason Scheff subscribed to my YouTube channel!), Donna Summer, Albert Hammond, and others. Among them were many friends who today live and work successfully from their Los Angeles mansions: Giorgio Moroder, Keith Forsey, Harold Faltermeyer, Sylvester Levay, Silver Convention.

These days, I'm happy with my little home studio on my iMac. Every once in a while I write a piece, put it all together with my keyboard and GarageBand software, and upload it to my own original music web site: KeemSounds.

One of my sillier songs...

with lyrics by my dear friend Paul Weidner

I wash the dishes (bear naked)

In 1974, 2 guys from Texas met one Bavarian. They ate and drank and generated lots of dirty dishes. One day, they wrote this song. Over 30 years later, this song was finally recorded and set to tasty images from Alaska, along with pictures of those 3 friends...

The Comedian

Do you think this is funny???

Clips from my annual Alaska chefing job and a joke, or two...

Supporting comedy actor

With German comedy super star Gerhard Polt

During my record producer days I discovered a Bavarian comedian who went on to become the most successful artist of his genre in the history of German satire.

Unfortunately (for most Squidooers), these clips are all in German, from a TV series that has been in reruns for the past 28 years.

Ladies and gentlemen - Super Star Gerhard Polt, starring Chef Keem! ;-)

The Gourmand

The weenie!

I know my weenie! I love love to eat my weenie! I'm always on the lookout for a superior weenie...

Please get more details about this delicate subject on my "Weenie" lens.

The Guru

"No more sugar, baby!"

Refined sugar is bad for us. That's my mantra. Basta! Equally dangerous are artificial sweeteners like Nutrasw...well, you know the culprits.

I'm on a mission to spread the word on great alternative sweeteners, all natural and organic, if possible. Something like my splendid (hidden pun alert!) Agasweet flavored agave nectar.

Here's your home work:

Agasweet
"No more sugar, baby!"
"Sugar Ain't, Sweetie!"

I love this lens, as I do all the others of yours I have visited, but I would love to see your version of "Schweinhax'n" (Spelling?) Do you make it? It is always the first thing I order during any of my frequent visits to Munich! No one outside Bavaria seems to know what they are missing!
