This is actually good timing because I was getting the urge to try a new crockpot recipe. What is "liquid smoke"? I have never heard of that. Thanks.
FYI: The bolding in the first two modules is a bit hard on the eyes. :)

Being from the south (NC) just to let you know, that cole slaw on the sandwich is NC STYLE, not memphis, coleslaw here is a condiment not a side. :)

if you have a Trader Joe's nearby... they have the best bbq sauce I have ever had and it is all natural without any of that high fructose stuff added.. a simple list of ingredients and you can pronounce each one.
  • Brad Mar 16, 2010 @ 10:05 am | delete
Made this a few weekends ago...first time making pulled pork, it was fantastic!
  • Niki B Feb 17, 2010 @ 12:25 pm | delete
I made this yesterday for supper and it was delicious. I didn't have liquid smoke so I added Frank's original hot sauce in it's place. We will definitely be making this again. By the way, I made it with a rib roast...and it was moist. Thanks for the delicious recipe.

Oh...my...gawd. Thank you so much for this amazing recipe! My husband and I tried pork shoulder in the crockpot recently, using just a broth with some gin and sauteed onion and carrots. It was great, but this is truly awesome! Many thanks for the tutelage.
  • Jimmie Apr 10, 2009 @ 1:04 am | delete
Memphis, TN has the best BBQ in the world! Corky's is my fave.

I make pork in my crockpot often. I make my own sauce and bake homemade rolls. Add a side of slaw and some home fries, and you've got a family favorite menu!
  • JennyLynn86 Apr 3, 2009 @ 9:03 pm | delete
I'm definitely going to try this. I just got into the whole slow cooker thing, plus there's a lack of good pulled pork in Los Angeles, for some strange reason. Thanks.
  • lady63 Feb 5, 2009 @ 1:32 am | delete
I really like this lens. My husband loves BBQ pork sandwiches and your lens gives me some new ideas on how to make it differently then I do.

I spent 4 years on a "Memphis-in-May" santioned BBQ Team (whole hog division), and finished in the top 5 (out of 50) each of those years. When I found this site (and tried this recipe) It became clear to me that I still have a lot to learn. Way to go Brad!!!
