Delicious BBQ Sauces - Not Just For Barbecuing

BBQ Sauce That is Full of Flavor

Most people use BBQ sauce (or barbecue sauce) for barbecuing. But maybe you have heard of those who use it to add flavor to all kinds of foods. Well, I'm one of them. I did that a lot when I was a kid. You know how finicky kids can be sometimes. In my case, I would add barbeque sauce whenever something didn't taste good and magically transform it into something more palatable.

My mom didn't always appreciate it when I didn't like her cooking, but if I finished what was on my plate after adding BBQ sauce she would be all happy.

As a grown up I still like to use the sauce although not as much as when I was a kid. I especially love to apply it to the meats and vegetables when we're grilling outside. Then of course, I can add some more at the table if I don't think there's enough already :) Let's face it, it always adds flavor to the food.

There are delicious BBQ sauce recipes you can try if you love cooking. Perhaps you even have some of your own that you are willing to share? :)

Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce

Some of the best BBQ sauces around

When it comes to BBQ sauces on the market today, one of my favorites is Jack Daniels'. This brand has been around for quite a while and many who have tried the sauce swear by it and just won't settle for anything less.

The first time I tasted Jack Daniels BBQ sauce was in one of our favorite family restaurants. It's a casual eatery with relaxed atmosphere great for getting together with friends and family. Their mouth-watering appetizers are to die for, and their barbecue dishes are out of this world. I later found out that they adopted Jack Daniels BBQ sauce into the menu.

While we enjoyed the Jack Daniels barbeque sauce in the dining place, as a BBQ sauce lover, I also wanted to incorporate the special recipe in our home cooking as well. Needless to say, I was glad to find out that the product is available in our local grocery store.

Going out to eat with friends and family is something that many of us treasure. However, we only do that on occasion. Whenever I crave for that delicious JD barbecue sauce, it would be nice to be able to prepare my own meal using the sauce myself.

Another reason for wanting to cook my own food is that restaurant food can be quite fattening. Although the BBQ sauce itself isn't really high in fat, the preparation of the food in a restaurant often times is. Making my own meals is certainly a healthier and more economical choice.

With Jack Daniels BBQ sauce I can make grilled chicken that taste remarkably similar to the one at the diner minus all the calories. This doesn't mean we're going to stop visiting our favorite eatery, though. My wife and I still treasure our nights out but we are living healthier and saving money at the same time by eating in a little more often than we used to.

History of BBQ sauce

The precise origin of barbecue sauce is unclear. Some trace it to the end of the 15th century, when Christopher Columbus brought a sauce back from Hispaniola, while others place it at the formation of the first American colonies in the 17th century. References to the substance start occurring in both English and French literature over the next two hundred years. South Carolina mustard sauce, a type of barbecue sauce, can be traced to German settlers in the 18th century.

Early cookbooks did not tend to include recipes for barbecue sauce. The first commercially-produced barbecue sauce was made by the Louis Maull co. in 1923, but the first nationally distributed barbecue sauce did not appear until 1951, when Heinz released a product in the United States. Kraft Foods also started making cooking oils with bags of spices attached, supplying another market entrance of barbecue sauce.

I went to your blog post about BBQ Sauce. You just went to the wrong BBQ place for your first visit if you wanted sauce. My husband and I love like you and often take a mini trip to visit a new and recommended place. Witt's BBQ in Hartselle, AL has a fantastic pork sandwich. They use a vinegar based sauce. They also put some cole slaw on the sandwich.

Loving BBQ is an open-minded affair. Pork, chicken, turkey, beef--all deserve a try.
