Barbeque Smokers

For those who are new to meat smoking, finding an appropriate one for your needs can be a tricky task. The ideal smoking temperature is 200-225 degrees and for really tasty meat it should reach 165 degrees in the middle. Compared to a grill, the heat coming from any type of smoker lower in temperature, which is why it takes a lot of time to smoke.

When it comes to learning how to smoke meats, there are different types of barbeque smokers for you to select from. Smokers come in various shapes and sizes and run in gas and charcoal, some of them are even made electric. As you shop for smokers, you will find yourself with three types: Offset, Vertical and Insulated smoker.

The Offset barbeque smoker is the most popular. Those that generate continuous heat are the most costly, and because it is all about slow roasting, you need to make sure the smoker is yielding consistent temperature for a very extended period of time that could go for anything between six and eight hours. The most sophisticated designs, the smoke and heat are both able to easily travel up and around the meat for an even cooking temperature. The Offset smoker is also the most expensive, so unless you're a pro, try a vertical or insulated type instead.

The Vertical barbeque smoker works similarly but it is easier to use than the offset. It has a heat source at the bottom with a water source right above it, which helps keep the meat moist while adding flavor.

The insulated and ceramic smoker is basically the same as the vertical smoker except for the fact that it is insulated. This makes it possible for the barbecue smoker to maintain a continual temperature for up to sixteen hours, which can be quite convenient when it comes to slow roasting. Whichever the type of smoker you choose to purchase, though, make sure it is large enough to handle a well-sized party to guarantee you will have sufficient room for your normal cookouts.
