Get the Look: Candy

Candy as is beautiful Pastels, like cotton candy

Candy Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Candy Belly dancer is all about the pastels - a soft, sweet look. I wanted to draw a sweet looking belly dancer with Candy, someone innocent to kind of offset the dark tribal dancer I have also done. Candy is really for the sweet and innocent dancers, she reminds me of the belly dancers that seem a bit shy on stage.

Maysun

Maysun Tribal Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Maysun is a little bit tribal without being too dark. Add a few peacock feathers to the look for a real showy look. She is the dominant dancer for sure, almost reminds me of Bettie Page, may she rest in peace. She is the complete opposite of the sweet and innocent look of pastel "Candy"

Ruby Belly Dancer

A little bit of the Christmas Spirit here

Ruby Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Ruby Belly Dancer was drawn for my belly dancer instructor Ruby Jazayre, a well know belly dancer in Indiana Ruby is a GREAT performer, she really gets the audience involved in her dance routines, I tried to show this in the artwork. Ruby is just a bit Christmas - but red and green do go great together - the contrasting colors really work well.

True Tribal

Capricorn Tribal Tribal Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Capricorn is part of my Zodiac Belly Dancer Series - she is by far my most popular drawing I think this is because of the huge tribal belly dance movement in America. She was definitly inspired my Rachael Brice, though a bit different, I did draw Capricorn after watching Rachael dance on youtube. The tribal look is always an option

Kalila Belly Dancer

The Harem Pants do it!

Kalila Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Kalila is all about the blue tones - blondes to usually look really good in blue, and this is true for Kalila, this was inspired by a Blonde in my class who always wears blue. I love how a lot of belly dancer have their favorite colors they wear almost all of the time. For me it has always been green. But the blonde with the blue, it really works quite well.

Dawn Belly Dancer

Beautiful green for spring

Dawn Belly Dancer - Belly Dance art by Lacy Chenault - more on The artwork of Lacy Chenault website

Dawn belly dancer was drawn for my sister - Dawn, my favorite redhead. This was my very first belly dancer artwork, before belly dancers I drew a lot of goddesses and fairies, so it was an easy transition though after Dawn I never went back to drawing goddesses and fairies. Dawn belly dancer is in the green. Again with the red and green - and again the contrasting colors do work - redheads usually can pull off green really well.
