Be a Good Squid

Ok ok hold up - I am not a prim and proper type at all, but I do think I have some manners. Well we will not ask anyone - just take my word for it. Trust me....lol
I wanted to make this lens to talk about some simple Squidoo Manners - all in good fun of course, which is The Party Animal style ya know.
My intention is to have some fun and help out all of us Squids make our lenses the best they can be and to be courteous to others. What I mean by that is "One hand washes the other". So when someone is kind enough to leave you feedback - well take the time to look at some of their lenses and do the same - and also shoot them some stars. It will be helpful to all of us to boost us up and bring each of us some more traffic. We all work hard to try and make quality lenses, so knowing someone read them makes us happy.
I know when I get feedback - it brings a big fat smile to my face. So lets move on to my lesson plan...

Courtesy, politeness or having good manners are all about respecting others and yourself.

Sounds easy and simple right? I think most of us have good manners while some others may forget what they are or how to use them from time to time.

Squid Manners Number 1: Be kind to your fellow Squid.

If someone leaves you feedback, take the time to see what they are writing about and do the same for them. I set my Guestbook Module to "Ask me first" not for the reason to decline someones feedback, but to see who is reading my page. I then will go to their page and be kind to them for taking the time out to see what I am writing about. Come on folks it is common courtesy and the KIND thing to do. Oh and not only leave some feedback, but give them some stars too. Be honest and kind with your feedback and never rude.
I understand if you receive a lot of feedback you cannot do this with all, but even one or two is a start.

Squid Manners Number 2: SquidU Forum Critiques

So you are excited you have a new lens and want other Squidoo-ers to take a look and tell you what they think. You know feedback from other Squidoo-ers is important. Well then do it. I think it is important for us Squidoo-ers to take a few minutes to look at the SquidU Forum and help others make their lens the best it can be. I know when I post there I cannot wait to hear from others on what they think about it and what changes they see it may need. I know when I create a lens it looks so good to me, but that is because I made it and others see things from a different perspective. I look forward to that feedback. I think more of us need to go there and respond to those asking for help and reviews. So take the time to go to the forum and look at at least one if you are tight with time. It will not only help them, but you also. So take the time and look at the SquidU Forum - it is full of great info too. So use your manners and try to go there maybe once or twice a week and check out a critique or two and leave the ask-er feedback.

Squid Manners Number 3: Lensroll

So now you find a cool lens that may have something to do with one of yours - well then Lensroll it. Lens rolling will take that lens and put it to a searchable area on yours for people to see. It also helps build your network - so be sure to do this - it is good manners.
Ok so it sounds good and you are now like - What is that? Do not worry I would not leave you without knowing how to do this.

Squid Manners Number 4: Nominate a Lens for "Lens of the Day"

What a honor and boost to have one of your lenses become "Lens of the Day". I have had that homor and it is great. Well it helps when other Squidoo-ers know how to nominate a lens you just thought was all that. If you come across a lens and are just amazed by it and it makes you say WoW that was great - use your manners and nominate it. Squid Manners Number 5: Donate some of your earnings to Charity

Do not be a greedy Squid. Change your payment options to include a charity or two. I know we all need money in our pockets, but helping a charity is a good thing. So use your manners and change that now.
Oh and now their is a Donation Module like the one below you can add to your lenses - cool.

So with my "One hand washes the other" theory - well not my theory, but you know what I mean.

Add a link to a lens you want to bring some readers to. Then post it here, BUT you must then take a look at the one above you - it's Good Squidoo manners. You post one - You look at one and be sure to leave them feedback. It is all in fun...So have a good time with it and enjoy some new reads.
