SADS: Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SADS for short, is the latest depression phenomenon making headlines in the news. It is now known for a fact that the gloomy dark months of winter can indeed affect a person's mood.
Your brain releases feel good chemicals when you are exposed to sunlight, and often in the winter months, people simply cannot get enough of these feel good chemicals to ward off depression. Other individuals who work underground, or indoors for long hours, can also be affected by this disorder. Which means that there are a lot people affected by SADS who find it very difficult to be happy during gloomy months.
The best way to relieve the affects of SADS is to get outside and into the light of the sun, but unfortunately this is not always possible, so you can also find some relief by using a sunlamp to give you additional sunlight in the winter. - My saying is " Don't take the little things for Granted" It's the little things I enjoy. Like watching a hummingbird feed from a flower or feeder. Or even, just enjoy a simple cinnamon toast like your other Lens. We stress and worry to much now a days. Life is to short to always be unhappy. We deserve happiness. - Definitely! I think lots of people are unhappy because they tend to be negative or pessimistic about everythng. Many people let other people or circumstances dictate how happy or unhappy they will be. I think each person make their own happiness. You can't rely on someone else to make you happy. If it's to be, it's up to you. Awesome lens!

- That is so true, I have to agree. Happiness is a choice for most of us, being as positive as we can be, and looking at the bright-side of things is helpful to being happier. - I have "Be Happy" music video on one of my lenses that I listen to 2 -3 times a week, because its a happy song.

- Happiness is a state of mind alright. But the 'states' of the mind are very difficult to control and keep it in the desired side of positivity. One of the reason that I personally find meditation to be a great tool to help me 'stay' positive, irrespective of the situations that I am surrounded with! Stay happy and positive and wishes for a wonderful year ahead! :)

- I definitely believe that you will have a much happier life if you look at the bright side of things. Life is life and it will always be there with the ups and downs, it's all in how you look at them.
