Looking for Beach Chairs with Canopy Protection?
A good canopy can not only shield your eyes but block the harmful UV rays that bombard your skin over the course of the day. On this page you find several good beach chairs with canopy protection to make your day at the beach care free.
Choosing Beach Chairs with Canopy Shade
Aluminum or steel tubing will provide a sturdy but lightweight chair. They will also tend to be rust resistant. A number of materials can be used for the fabric, but while mesh breathes, 600D polyester will often hold up longer.
If you are taller or heavier than average, then you should consider some of the chairs dimensions. Having 20" to 23" between the arms will provide more than many standard chairs and a higher back, 26" or more, will be more comfortable for taller individuals as will a deeper seat, say 17" or more. Also check the maximum weight the chair is designed to support.
Think about what additional features will be important to you. An attached cushioned head rest, one that's adjustable is one option. A drink holder, zippered valuables pouch, a carrying pouch, or padded shoulder straps are other options.
You'll also want to think about reclining positions. Some chairs leave you seated at near 90 degrees at all times. Some recline by giving you a number of positions from which to chose. Some will lie flat and others will not. Some reclining beach chairs never sit fully upright.
Another comfort factor, that also relates to size, is the height of the seat. Some beach chairs are very low, just 7-9 inches off of the ground. Others sit higher, say 13 to 15" off of the ground.
Beach chairs with canopy shades offer varying amounts of protection. The canopy itself sometimes shields only the upper body (based on the size of the canopy) unless the chair is turned away from the sun. In addition, check the UPF or Ultraviolet Protection Factor. For the best protection, a canopy chair should offer 40 UPF or better. A rating of 40 and higher is considered excellent.
UPF is a standard measure that determines the level of sun protection a given fabric provides. This rating takes into account penetration by both UVB and UVA rays (both harmful rays). A rating of 50 for instance, would mean that only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays are reaching your body when protected by this fabric.
