Your Own Passion Pit

Beach Movie Central, your source for your own passion pit. That means Drive-in Theater, for you young folks.

It's a gas! Created for fans of the very popular beach movies of the late 1950's and 1960's. Actually it's Moondoggie's favorite site.

What will you find here? Only the most fab movies, hip music, around. And more outta sight stuff.

We even have Eric Von Zipper's approval. In his own words, "Eric Von Zipper adores you. And when Eric Von Zipper adores somebody, they stay adored."

1960's

A Little Trivia

The very popular beach movie genre began in 1959, with the release of Gidget, starring Sandra Dee. Yet it wasn't a national craze until Frankie Avalon, and Annette Funicello starred in the American International Pictures "Beach Party," in 1963.

Although others had been made;

Where The Boys Are (1960)
Blue Hawaii (1961)
Gidget Goes Hawaiian (1961)

It was American International Pictures who was responsible for the huge success of these films. Here is a list of their credits.

Beach Party (1963)
Muscle Beach Party (1964)
Bikini Beach (1964)
Pajama Party (1964)
Beach Blanket Bingo (1965)
How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965)
The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (1966)

What else did the sixties hold for us? Let's take a look.

Life Expectancy: Males 66.6 years, Females 73.1 years

An estimated 850,000 "war baby" freshmen enter college; emergency living quarters are set up in dorm lounges, hotels and trailer camps.
