Just added a "Buy Matkot in Israel" section to this lens. I suggest you call them and see what they can do for you.

As a fan of all things Israeli , can't help but love matkot! It just wouldnt be a day at the beach without the familiar CLICK CLACK of the ball and paddles :D

Oi, I love this game. Much more fun to get tanned while playing than while just lying on the sand.

How do you make it an official National Sport?
  • Antwon - East Hampton, NY USA - 20 years old Sep 28, 2011 @ 10:56 am | delete
My friend and I are in the process of creating a game that involves this game but I believe its a little bit better then trying to see how many hits we can put together in 3 minutes. We thought it was boring so we added different aspects; like using two balls or switching the paddle in each hand alternating after each hit, or both sometimes. Out of that we created a game, possible a future sport. But when our game gets big, I will be sure to contact you and possible talk about business oppurtunities

Hey Antwon, thanks for your comments! I like your advanced modifications of this game, even though I think matkot is hard enough with just one small ball. If you watch the YouTube video above, you'll see that the most talented players whack the ball at tremendous speeds, which makes the game even harder. If I remember correctly, one of the competition benchmarks is to see which two-person team can have the most rallies in a specific amount of time. (Hitting faster back and forth will obviously increase the number of rallies possible in a set time.) It would be really cool if your version takes off and becomes popular, so let me know how it goes!

I will thank you for the encouragement!

I used to play a similar game with my brother and friends growing up, looks like fun!
  • PleasantValley Jun 23, 2011 @ 5:10 am | delete
Thanks for your comment, Jerrad. It's a fun game indeed, but for beginners it can be challenging to get a rally going.

Hi, I am a racquetball player (frescoball) here in Brazil and I hope one day to visit Israel to play Matkot.
One thing I guarantee, the game is addictive and exciting!

    Hi Leonardo!
I'm very happy to hear a person from Brazil comment here! You are always welcome to visit and play Matkot on the beach. Please come visit this page again in the future, since I might put up a Facebook page dedicated to this sport.

Todah Danny, thank you very much! You're right - Israel's climate is starting to change and it seemed that this year the country had 6 months of summer! This is good for matkot players but not so good for the environment.

hey there! i'm from Singapore and just returned from Tel Aviv. Saw two guys at the beach near the colourful hotel playing this game. Incidentally, one of the Tel Aviv artists, Stacey Piltzer, is running an exhibition at the Bauhaus Centre, some of her works were done on Rabi brand Matkot racquets. :) Was hoping to buy a pair of bats/racquets and a ball so i could try it out here... but didn't have any luck before i got home. any idea where i might be able to find some online?
